    Question about "cheating"

So, if I KNOW I am going to have a meal that has more than 15 grams of fat, do I just not take a pill for that meal?  Or, is it already in my system and I am destined for the "treatment effects" that sound oh-so-not-pleasant??    I guess I refuse to live my life giving up all the yummy foods I like, like steak & cheeseburgers!  I am willing to cut back but definitely not willing to totally eliminate.

hahaha, I am worried myself about those so-called "treatment effects" ewww. I don't know the answer but I do know that I love me some steak and know that I am going to cheat but not if I have to wear a diaper!

Oh, you'll be "eliminating" alright... If you're planning on chowing down like that, I'd invest in some dark pants.

    Re: Question about "cheating"

I'd like to know the answer to this too. With Weight Watchers, the point system allows you to save up points for a certain meal or meals that you know usually would contain a lot of fat and cals. I'm going to a wedding next month, and I'd like to be able to eat what everyone else is having and to have a few drinks...or more than a few lol. I'd be afraid to have treatment effects in my pink bridesmaid dress though. Should I just stop taking alli a week before the wedding, the resume the pills after the wedding?

    Re: Question about "cheating"

Try to "ferret" out and read the post titled "Day 2 Down" - the person who ate the chicken tenders and buffalo sauce on her second day.  She had quite a third day :-)  That might be enough to stop us eating the hamburgers/cheeseburgers.

    Re: Question about "cheating"

The Alli pills only work on the meal you are taking it with.  If you want to eat whetever you want at the wedding then stop the day before...no need to stop the week before.

    Re: Question about "cheating"

    You Said:

"So, if I KNOW I am going to have a meal that has more than 15 grams of fat, do I just not take a pill for that meal?  Or, is it already in my system and I am destined for the "treatment effects" that sound oh-so-not-pleasant??    I guess I refuse to live my life giving up all the yummy foods I like, like steak & cheeseburgers!  I am willing to cut back but definitely not willing to totally eliminate."

My question to you and the others who also say that they don't want to give up all the 'yummy  foods "........Why Bother?  Aren't those the foods that brought you here in the first place?  It sounds as if you aren't ready for this program yet.  Why not put the pills away and pull them out when you are ready to make a commitment?   I don't know how much you have to lose or want to lose, but it doesn't sound like you are serious enough at this time to really focus on the problem.  I'm determined to lose the 15lbs I gained with my back injury and get back in my size 4's and to do that I'm willing to give up whatever I have to.  I'm going on the Seattle Dinner Train in July and I've already called, explained the medication and they are going to discreetly fix my chicken the way I need it to be done to avoid any problems.

And to the person who 'saves points' on weight waters...the book says no you can't do that here or you take the chance of having the same problem as the lady with chicken bites.

    Re: Question about "cheating"

Why are you bothering with Alli at all if you are already worried about not being able to eat high fat, high calorie, high cholestoral foods?  Aren't those 'yummy foods' the reason that you are here now and in your current situation?  Here's a little trick that will help you decide:

Go buy yourself the Steak or Cheeseburger, take it home and set up a tray in front of a full length mirror.  Now eat it as you normally would but only while watching yourself.  Now decide, is this how you want to look (and how others see you) for the rest of your life?  Did you look good shoving that whopper in your mouth? Was that cheeseburger/steak as good as you had hoped and was it as satisfying as seeing the scale move down?  If you answered 'yes' to any of these after doing this excercise, you are not ready.  Put the pills down and get to your nearest drive-thru!

    Re: Question about "cheating"

The companion book states that no you cannot save up points.  It also states that after having a high fat meal, you can get treatment effects for up to 48hrs after eating.  You would be best to stop 7 days prior and resume 3-4 days after to be safe.

    Re: Question about "cheating"

Why bother?  Why not?  I didn't say that I was going to eat cheeseburgers and steaks for every meal.  I simply stated that I would want to eat those once in a while.  By no means does that indicate that I am not committed to losing weight.   I joined a boot camp in January and have worked my tail off four mornings a week in order to be healthier.  Speaking for myself, I am a whole lot more likely to stick to a low-fat lifestyle if I do not deny myself those things that I enjoy every once in a while.
