    Re: I am scale OBSESSED!

    Hi there!

I was becoming addicted as well for the 1st month (im in wk 6) but the last few weeks Ive made myself stop weighing every morning and Ive noticed its more exciting to weigh less often (I still weigh atleast twice a week) then it is to weight daily.

Weighing less often I see a bigger loss all at once then if I was weighing dailly. That is more exciting!! To see 3 lbs dropped per say 1 pound or sometimes none for that day :-)

You in the SAA should give it a try, I know its hard. I battle with it too. I want to weight daily just not letting myself anymore

    Good Luck

    Lauri (down 14lbs since 6/18)

    princess.erica:

So I'm starting a new program: Scale Addicts Anonymous. You're all doing great, because the first step is to recognize that you have a problem! As a recovering scale addict, I know it can be hard not to hop on the scale every single day. I myself would weigh in at night and in the morning, every single day, and take note of the change - up or down - on the scale. Now I've taken steps to avoid this - I put the scale up on the top shelf in the closet and only take it out Monday mornings, weigh myself, then put the scale away. I hope that eventually I'll be able to use the scale once a week without having to keep it hidden away.

There's something like a 12 step program for this.. but yeah. There ya go. Hahaha.

    Hey Erica,

Just think, if you cheat weighing yourself multiple times a day - you've increased your exercise regimen by getting the scale up and down out of the closet. :)  WAY TO GO!  Win/win.

    Re: I am scale OBSESSED!

I was weighing myself too often, as well.  The scale would read 150, then I would step on it the next day and it would say 152!  It was really depressing.  I finally put a stop to that and just weighed weekly and I actually saw the scale go down!  Made me much happier, so from now on the scale stays hidden until Monday mornings!

    Re: I am scale OBSESSED!

Sereiously, GET RID OF IT!!!!!!!!! It will be the most rewarding thing you do for your self todate. I too had a problem with it until I read an artical that gave me my joy back. Pleeease heed this advise, to get rid of it. In the artical it stated how our day is dictated by the number on the scale. How can we allow a peace of metal to tell us how we will feel about our selves today. Think about it, you wake up or get ready for bed and life is good, now you think about the scale your whole demener changes and then, you step on it and in an instant you have change your whole mood  if the numbers where not what you wanted and then you spend the rest of the time beating your self up. The reality is, you do not need a scale to tell you how you are doing. either you well you excercised or you didn't. Love your self as you would your daughter who was going through that, Free her throw it away and give her her self respect back.

    All my love

Put it in the garage. or the trunk of your car. Make it an inconvience to use.  I put mine in the garage and by the time I think to go get it, I have found something else that needs my attention.

    Re: I am scale OBSESSED!

Hey everyone ~ Check out this site, kinda interesting.  http://primusweb.com/fitnesspartner/library/weight/scale.htmI  I too am always on that dang scale. In the mornings after I go potty, I'm am sitting there talking to myself...."Just get in the shower, don't get on the scale", as I'm getting in the shower, my body turns to the scale....then, before I know it, I'm standing on the dang thing! Then, no more pounds lost, I'm bummed for even getting on the it and trying to convince myself that it's okay. Tired of this same ol' morning routine! I have lost 6 pounds in 16 days, so that is good, but want more....so, just have to keep up what I'm doing....only stay off that dang scale! I want just once a week and that's what I'm working on!

    Good luck to all

    Re: I am scale OBSESSED!

Me too!!! I can't stay away from that scale. It is just there, every time I go into the bathroom. I weight myself every morning and sometimes at night. I know it isn't a possitive thing to do. I would love to wait until weight in day and have a surprise but I CAN'T!!!!!  Before stating ALLI I got on the scale maybe once a month and only if I felt like I might have lost something. I have even promised myself I'll weight only on Wednesdays and weight in days, Friday, but no luck with that so far.

    Re: I am scale OBSESSED!

I weigh myself everyday. Once in the morning, after using the bathroom, but that is it. I record my daily weight in a chart, and using that in conjunction with my food log tells me where I could have tripped up to gain a pound here or there. For instance, I now know that I don't do very well at restaurants when there is no nutrition information available. I lose more weight when I up my fat grams. These are things I might not have learned if I only looked at the scale once a week and got a more general picture.

Betty is right (but, when is she not?): when you weigh should be an individual choice. I have read articles that say only to weight once a week, and articles that say weighing once a day is better. Just do what will help you the most.
