Re: I'm a newbie OMG what did I do?

I started with the meal plans on this site. I had no TE's, felt a little constipated at first. Then, kept eating healthy by choosing low-fat foods and sticking to the alli recommendation of limiting number of fat grams per day.  I lost 7 pounds.

Week two, when I tried eating off the site meal plan, I didn't lose as much and have TE's as I kept under daily fat grams per day.

I'm on week three and my check in is on Saturday...tomorrow.

Re: I'm a newbie OMG what did I do?

I am on day three, and no TE's as of yet. I have been "gassy" though, and get the "BG's," the bubblin' gas in my belly, after meals. Not to where it keeps me from doing anything, but kind of annoying. Just follow the diet, drink lots of water...although I have read that some on here drink diet soda. I have been sticking to water, but just my preference. I haven't really been exercising...having some pain from my sciatica....

Don't be nervous. Really, there's nothing to be nervous about. Everything will be fine as long as you follow the diet plan and stay within your allowed fat per meal. If you choose to go over that, then there will probably be "side effects" that we have heard about. The Cheesy Chicken Skillet is really good, as is the Roast Beef Melt, the French Toast, Bean & Cheese burrito... those are just a few of my favorites so far... unless of course you're alson on Weight Watcher's, Jenny Craig, etc.

I wasn't nervous, but didn't really know what to expect.... I'm glad I started though, because it's a lifestyle change I desperately needed!

BEST OF LUCK TO YOU =D

check back and let us know how you're doing.

Hi!  Today is day 5 for me.  I've had a great experience so far.  I've kept my meals to less than 15 grams of fat, so no TE's for me.  Good luck!!

You will be fine, just stick to the plan.  I have been on Alli since the day it came out, over a month now.  As long as you follow the program the TE will be minor IF ANY AT ALL.  I admit the TE's scare you enough that you do follow it, I least that is the case with me.  I work out now and eat low fat and when I don't I certainly pay.  Good luck, it really works, I have lost 16 pounds since I started.

Re: I'm a newbie OMG what did I do?

Tomorrow is my first day too!

Maybe I should introduce myself. :)

I'm Charity, I'm a telephonic and pediatric RN in Missouri. My job entails sitting on the phone for 10 hrs a day, 4 days a week. (!!!) I started exercising and working out about a month and a half ago and have lost 14 lbs on my own. I'd like to lose another 71 for a total of 85 lbs.

    Height: 5'5
    Starting Weight: 250.2
    Current Weight: 236.8
    First Goal Weight: 220
    Long Term Goal: 165

I don't even remember when I was below 190 - I remember standing on a scale in the 8th grade and being upset that it was 185-190. So, here I am, at 22 years old, a nurse (who teaches health education, at that!) and obese.

I purposely didn't run out and buy Alli the first few weeks it was available because I wanted to prove to myself that I could lose weight on my own before resorting to using a pill. So, now that I've accomplished that, I'm ready to work with Alli to lose even more and live a healthier lifestyle!

Re: I'm a newbie OMG what did I do?

Hi Charity, I was scared to death too! I just kept to the eating plan and have had little problems.  I was a little gassy, but I always am so.... Great job losing the 14 lbs. You are doing great! I try to keep my fat percentage between 20-30 % and I don't have a real problem with it. I have only been walking about 2-3 times a week. I have found the program easy to follow. I mainly have to keep looking at the recipies to not get bored. I event heinthat having a little chocolate after dinner is okay as long as I figure it into my plan. If you stick to what is suggested, you will see some results. My thought is that any movement downward on the scale is an improvement- even if it's just 1-2 lbs. a week. (It's been more for me however!)

Good luck, you will do fine!

Re: I'm a newbie OMG what did I do?

Hi Charity, I am right there with you in this battle. I am 48 years old, 5'5, now 214 lbs and my goal is 140. Although at this point I have lost 11+ lbs. (Havent weighed this week) I am feeling better and I can see some changes even at this early stage. I am in health care as well, have been for 25 years but I do psychiatric work. I want to do this for me and to feel better. I am a diabetic, have high cholesterol, and just feel older than I should. I did just do a wellness clinic this week and I had a cholesterol of 177 and trglycerides of 203 so things are looking up in that respect. I wish you luck and hope that we can journey the same way. Cecilia
