The girls are right. You are not a failure! In fact you deserved it. Sherbet is one of my favorite desserts, and (as you know) it is not a lot of calories, and no fat at all!!! The bowl of cereal is something that your body was probably craving something in it... like fiber, or whatever. I'd say the bowl of cereal, even though it was a binge, was a MUCH better choice than a snickers or chocolate fudge sunday, wouldn't you agree. Fudgebar, again, not many calories, but very good calcium. Baked Cheetos! Wait, where can you get those? lol sounds good to me!
Anyway, don't be hard on yourself! Just make sure that you are getting those treats in slowly next time, say one every other day or so, so your body doesn't feel the need to binge. If you do binge, just get back up again. Add another work-out to your day if you feel so guilty. That always helps me. Take a long bath... remember to take care of yourself because you sooooo deserve it!!!
WAIT, 17 lbs!!! I didn't really process that before. YOU SSOOOOOOOOO DESERVE IT!!!!! Keep up the good work!!!
Here's another something that might help you feel better. David Zinczenko, author of The Abs Diet, wants everyone on his diet to cheat for one meal a week. Eat whatever you crave. I'm not sure about how true this is, but this is what he says: "I want you to cheat for a couple reasons. One, I want you to control when you cheat. Plan your cheat meal for the week. The way to control your cravings is to satisfy them every once in a while. And there's another gimportant reason I want you to cheat: because it'll actually help you change your body. A successful diet is about how you eat most of the time, not how you eat all of the time. In fact, a high-calorie day of eating can rev up your metabolism. Researchers at the National Institute of Health found that people who ate twice as many calories in a day as they normally would increased their metabolism by 9% in the 24-hour period that folowed."
Although, I don't think it's possible (for me I know it's not) to get twice as many calories in a day, but it just goes to show that you should never look at that one day and think any way about failure. You are awesome. You are doing the best thing for your body ever, and you are a lot more successful than most. I mean 17 lbs!!! WOW. Great job!

Let them give thanks to the Lord for his unfailing love and his wonderful deeds for humankind, for he satisfies the thirsty and fills the hungry with good things.
