HELP!!! I ate all wrong today!!

Today is Friday and it is my weight in, I was so excited to get on the scales, and I lost another three pounds, my total weight loss is 17 lbs now, I'm very happy about that, but.....something went wrong today, I ate everything not healthy for me, I had baked cheetos, a fudgebar, a bowl of rainbow sherbert, a bowl of cereal, BUT.... I counted all my calories and my fat intake, and stayed under my amount for the day, Why did this happen to me????  I have been sooooo good !!  I feel like I totally failed :(   HELP

Re: HELP!!! I ate all wrong today!!

     Shelly,

You sound like you have been working hard. It is normal to have days like you did. I know from experience. The best part is that you recognized what you did and now you can move on. Expect days like that, but know it is only ONE day and move forward.  Maybe if you allow yourself one cheat day a month, you won't have the guilt to deal with. I have found even on my  "cheat" day, I tend to have  a good awareness of what I am eating.  Good luck and keep up the hard work.

Keep your head up Shelly. We all cheat once in awhile. i cheated yesterday and paid for it with TE's this morning. Unlike you, i did not keep count calories or fat intake. I just got back from a power walk using 2.5 lb. weights. When i was walking and thinking about yesterday I thought about how just like any other addict that relapses we have to get back on track and move foward. YOU ARE NOT A FAILURE!!!!

Re: HELP!!! I ate all wrong today!!

The girls are right. You are not a failure! In fact you deserved it. Sherbet is one of my favorite desserts, and (as you know) it is not a lot of calories, and no fat at all!!! The bowl of cereal is something that your body was probably craving something in it... like fiber, or whatever. I'd say the bowl of cereal, even though it was a binge, was a MUCH better choice than a snickers or chocolate fudge sunday, wouldn't you agree. Fudgebar, again, not many calories, but very good calcium. Baked Cheetos! Wait, where can you get those? lol sounds good to me!

Anyway, don't be hard on yourself! Just make sure that you are getting those treats in slowly next time, say one every other day or so, so your body doesn't feel the need to binge. If you do binge, just get back up again. Add another work-out to your day if you feel so guilty. That always helps me. Take a long bath... remember to take care of yourself because you sooooo deserve it!!!

WAIT, 17 lbs!!! I didn't really process that before. YOU SSOOOOOOOOO DESERVE IT!!!!! Keep up the good work!!!

Here's another something that might help you feel better. David Zinczenko, author of The Abs Diet, wants everyone on his diet to cheat for one meal a week. Eat whatever you crave. I'm not sure about how true this is, but this is what he says: "I want you to cheat for a couple reasons. One, I want you to control when you cheat. Plan your cheat meal for the week. The way to control your cravings is to satisfy them every once in a while. And there's another gimportant reason I want you to cheat: because it'll actually help you change your body. A successful diet is about how you eat most of the time, not how you eat all of the time. In fact, a high-calorie day of eating can rev up your metabolism. Researchers at the National Institute of Health found that people who ate twice as many calories in a day as they normally would increased their metabolism by 9% in the 24-hour period that folowed."

Although, I don't think it's possible (for me I know it's not) to get twice as many calories in a day, but it just goes to show that you should never look at that one day and think any way about failure. You are awesome. You are doing the best thing for your body ever, and you are a lot more successful than most. I mean 17 lbs!!! WOW. Great job!

Re: HELP!!! I ate all wrong today!!

Well my second weigh in is Monday, day 12 for me.  Been doing really well in sticking to the cals and fat gram thingy but today was my husbands birthday and tha cake was to much for me so i had a piece, no let me rephrase that I had a LARGE piece.  it was sooooo good, but right now I feel sooooo guilty.  Like a child caught stealing cookies.  I went outside a walked for 30 mins, at a really good pace but I still feel like crap!!! Needless to say I told him to eat all he wanted because I sent the rest of the cake home with my son and daughter in law.  It could not stay here :o)
