Re: Stinky treatment effects and you, a yucky story

I have to say that I really enjoyed the first post - sort of described my first experience when I cheated with Ben and Jerry's!!!  All in all I did it to myself and I knew better.  I have taken some precautions though, like kotex pads and a shampoo for oily hair - the shampoo gets the oil out easily with no stain....however, I find that the longer I am on the program the less I eat fat in excess.  At first I did it from fear, and now I find that taking the pill makes me more aware of what I am eating and what I put in my body.

My oily experience sort of made me realize just what I was doing to myself - all that slick inside of me!!!  After 20 years of dieting this is the first plan that I have stuck to for longer than 2 weeks - and so far so good - 6 weeks and 25 pounds - I actually went on craigs list to get clothes because I don't want to invest on any new items until I reach my goal - only 40 more pounds to go, which would have sounded impossible just a few weeks ago.

I havent had a te that bad, but i have had some.  My solution is to wear pantiliners 24/7 and to get the oily circle out of the toilet, i spray it with Kaboom! bathroom cleaner spray every time i get done flushing.  Helps a great deal.  thanks for the laugh.

I was simply sharing what works for myself.  We are all different.  Not all of us are addicted too food.  Are you saying that we should never, ever treat ourselves food wise?  According to your theory, you will never partake in cookies, ice cream, chocolate, pizza or anything remotely fattening ever again.  That my friend, is denial.   Just like with everyting in life, it's all about moderation.

    dave4100:

I have a different take on your theory.  Would you tell someone addicted to alcohol that as long as they are sober for two weeks or so, they can go out and get hammered the next night?  I think it has to be a total life style change.  So many people say I will just eat a small treat now and then and be ok.  NOT!  That leads to eventual denial of the problem and the next thing they know, they are bigger than they were when they started.  Just my opinion.

cshell, if you can really eat an occasional ice cream cone, candy bar or whatever and not set your body into a sugar frenzy, then more power to ya!  You are fortunate.

Some of us just have to say NO. Just like recovering alcoholics who cannot drink alcohol ever, many of us can never have anything like cookies or candy or brats or whatever. Ever!  It's not denial...in fact, it's being very realistic and honest with oursleves.

We can still "treat" ourselves: lo-fat frozen yogurt, fat-free hotdogs, lo-fat pound cake (I have a recipe that is soooo good!) topped with fresh strawberries and a spoonful of non=fat cool whip, etc.

Many of us on this program have had weight issues for all our lives and are addicts much like an alcoholic or junkie. We are so good at rationalizing .  In this area of our lives, there can be no moderation.

Well, I think I'll treat myself today with a Skinny Cow--50 Calories and 1 gr fat.  Tastes just like a fudge bar!  yum!

Re: Stinky treatment effects and you, a yucky story

Is it denial giving an alcoholic a drink?  My theory, as you call it, is only to deny yourself all those foods while you are on the diet to loose the necessary pounds.  After attaining your weight goal, it then becomes a matter of going into a food maintenance mode.  I'm saying it can't be business as usual regarding old eating habits.  Your way is like taking two steps forward and one step back.

    Spotty,

Thank you for putting that into perspective for me.  Once in a while, it does us good to put ourselves in someone else's shoes.

I am fortunate.  I am 4'10" and only have 9 pounds to loose.  That being said, those 9 pounds on me are like 20 to 30 pounds on a woman who is of average height.

I honestly feel that wether it's 9 pounds, 25 pounds or 100 that we are all in this together.

    Warmest regards,

    cshell

    Jenisis:
So this diet is even more expensive than the bottle and fat free food...constantly purchasing undies isn't cheap. Then again, I can just eat the way I'm supposed to, because let me tell ya, I've lost a serious amout of weight, I just had a set back, and that's not right.

Your post was good for a laugh. Look at the bright side ... with all the weight you are losing, you're gonna have to toss your undies anyway ... they are TOO BIG!!!

(Reminds me of the scene in Shallow Hal when he asks the skinny Gwyneth Paltrow that he sees if she is rigging a spinnaker for a sailboat when she is looking at the excessively large panties.)

So glad to hear you are losing weight and have learnt from your mishap!

    Best of success to all!

    Jim
