    Weight Watchers and Alli

Hello, I am new to this i just started today. Well i read all the books and they said that it is ok to do weight watchers while taking the alli pill. But i was talking to another women on alli and she said it is better to use the alli diet. I just find weight watchers easier to follow but i do want to get the most out of this so if it is better i will switch. So does anyone have any advice? Is anyone doing weight watchers while on alli? How is it going for you? Thanks a bunch nikki

    Re: Weight Watchers and Alli

    Hi

I am a former WW, and worked for Weight Watcher for 19 years. When I began WW in 1981, the plan was very structered. You had to be aware of fat, sugar, calories, etc. Sweets or desserts were limited to 3 times a week. Vegetables were #1, Fruit #2, Meat, Milk, then fat. It was the old fashioned pyramid (like I learned in school). After many years, as a member and employee, and of course 3 children later, WW did not work for me.

Each year we would have a NEW program. Always new and inproved. More flexible. I do not think I am a flexible person. I NEED structure. Give me (example:list of fruits), let me pick one and tell me how many ounces in a serving.

Everyone knows the best thing about WW is the group support. I was always blessed with a wonderful leader. And I saw many in 19 years. Each one was kind, and caring, and knowledgable of all the programs we changed every year.

I think you could work Alli into WW if that is what you want.

But whatever choice you make, GOOD LUCK!

I hope you are thinking: "Back at you"

    Kim

    Re: Weight Watchers and Alli

I have been doing WW and Alli for 3 weeks and have only lost 1 pound! I am frustrated. I don't know what to do either because nothing seems to be working for me. I would try the alli diet if I were you. I don't think I eat enough fat on WW.

    Re: Weight Watchers and Alli

    Hi Nikkilynn,

I am doing ww also - I just got discouraged with WW at every weigh in I wanted to jump start something so I decided on ALLI.  It's my third day and I am trying not to weigh myself at home and I am going to weigh in at WW this Wednesday.  Both plans are pretty similar I totally think its all about intake and exercising which I do also.   What are your stats from WW?  I have been with the program for 8 weeks and I gained and lost the same 5 pounds.  Talk about upset.  Hopefully this week with the Ally will be totally different.

    Hi Nikki,

I have been doing Weight Watchers while taking Alli. My 1st week check in was this past Friday and I lost 3 pounds. I am going to give the Alli diet a try this week to see if it works better. Best of luck to you.

    Re: Weight Watchers and Alli

     Hi Nikkilynn.

I have had great success on WW...that is, until lately.  I had a rough year this year, just a lot going on, and put on 20 pounds.  I decided once school was out, I was hitting the WW hard again, and concentrating on being healthy.  It never fails, though, I lost my 5 pounds, and hit a plateau of some kind.  I adjust my points lower to 21, and ran 45 min at least 4 days per week.  But, I wasn't seeing any change, and I was starving.  I started Alli 3 days ago.  I have to eat within the 1800 range for the amount of exercise that I do.  Which, now makes sense, since I know I wasn't eating enough on WW and my body was letting me know it, by holding onto the weight.  Since Saturday, I'm down 2 pounds.  There are times that I physically cannot eat all of the calories that I am supposed to eat.  However, I try not to go lower than 1500.  So, I'm eating between 1500 and 1800.  I feel satisfied, and have more than enough energy to run, which I enjoy doing.

I like using the Alli plan and nutrition log because it works a lot like etools by WW.  Except that it tracks everything for you, including letting you know if you are within the target range for all of your nutrients.  You can also track your exercise calories and see how much your are putting out.  If you do want to use POINTS, just keep in mind that 50-60 cal=1point.  And, you will be eating more points with Alli than you did with WW.  Secondly, if you just track POINTS, you won't be able to keep a true track of your fat intake, which, if you're not careful will lead to "treatment effects".

    Hope this helps,

    Kimberly

    Re: Weight Watchers and Alli

I'm pretty sure there are a lot of people on here using ww and alli. I'm not one of them. But I can say that all you need to do is if you choose to do both, make sure you count calories and fat grams. Make sure you are getting the recommended amounts of both of those. No more, no less. I was eating less, but it prevented me from getting the full effect of weight loss. Since I have changed my eating habits to very close to what Alli recommends, my metabolism kicked into high-gear again. 8 lbs in four weeks, and should have been more if I would have trusted Alli in the first place!

Good luck. I'm sure you'll do great, whatever you do. We're here for ya!

    Re: Weight Watchers and Alli

I have been doing alli and weight watchers together for a month now and I have lost 10lbs!!  I do not go to the weight watchers meetings or anything I just buy their foods at the grocery store.  They have breakfast foods, and deserts as well.  I like the convience of it.  All of their meals are within my target fat and calories and there is still room for me to add desert if I desire.  I hope this helps!!
