    Dislike of Dairy Products

I do not eat cheese (YUCK) or like many dairy products.  I do not like yogurt or milk unless the milk is mixed with something like cereal.  Most of the menus mention cheese products or dairy products.  Does anyone have any suggestions as to what I could substitute.  I tried to plan my meal with the meal planner and really do not see much on the substitution list that does not include cheese or a dairy product.  I have my goals set and know how many calories/fat to intake per day and want to follow it properly so would it be best to just plan my own meals based strictly on the calorie/fat intake? I really want to succeed and make sure I am eating properly.  Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated !!! :)

I purchase Fage yogurt and mix it with lots of different types of spices from mint to cayenne to garlic and use it as a raw vegetable dip.  Kills two birds with one stone -- dairy and lots of raw veggies.  Fage yogurt ROCKS and doesn't taste like regular yogurt.  You can find it at Trader Joe's.

    Hi Pscash,

There are many people who share your feelings about dairy foods. Of course, there are also many who can't seem to get enough cheese. The calorie and fat content of cheese would be comparable to meat, seafood, poultry and nuts. You can use any of them to substitute for where you are supposed to have cheese. Mixing your yogurt or milk with cereal is a great way to fit them into your diet. If your yogurt is supposed to be a snack option, you can try Yoplait Whips. They do not have the same taste or consistency that yogurt does so you may like them better. You may also like the taste of soy milk better than regular milk so give that a try. Just be sure to read the labels. Betty Kovacs, MS, RD
