Re: Recipe Reviews from The Alli Diet Plan Book

These recipes sound amazing!  Just one question though, are there more recipes than just what's on this website?  I also have the South Beach Diet recipe books and there are some great recipes in there.  Just have to watch some of the fat counts on some of them.

Re: Recipe Reviews from The Alli Diet Plan Book

The book is called The Alli Diet Plan Book.  I bought mine at barnes and noble, but I think you can get them at Wal Mart and other places.  I am not sure but I think that the recipes in the book are in addition to what is on the website.

    Hi Carol,

I bought "The Alli Diet Plan" book at Walmart for $13.87.  Great tool book.   I use it constantly for recipies and a food guide to fats/calories.

    Hope this helps :)

Re: Recipe Reviews from The Alli Diet Plan Book

I just made the blueberry muffins, and they are so good!  Even though I only had skim milk and whole wheat flour on hand, they still turned out really well.  Can't wait to try new recipes from the book!

Sweet and Spicy Shrimp (pg 200)

I had this tonight for dinner and the whole family really enjoyed it.  I had to make some minor adjustments since I did not have everything the recipe called for.  What I have in parentheses is what I used/substituted from the original recipe  1 lb large shrimp peeled and deveined1 ½ teaspoons olive oil (1 teaspoon)2 tablespoons minced shallots1 tablespoon minced fresh ginger (omitted)1 tablespoon minced garlic2 cups diced tomatoes2 teaspoons water (omitted)1 teaspoon Chinese mustard (1/2 teaspoon white pepper)¼ cup rice vinegard2 tablespoons honey 1)     Place the shrimp in a large bowl. Drizzle with the oil, season with salt and pepper and toss to coat.2)     Coat a large nonstick skillet with cooking spray and place over med-high heat for 1 minute.  Stir in the tomatoes and cook for 3 minutes or until softened.3)     In a cup mix the water and mustard.  Add to the skillet.  Stir in the vinegar and honey.4)     Add the shrimp. Cook about 3 minutes or until the shrimp are opaque. I served over “No Yolk” Egg Noodles (210 calories per 2 oz serving and .5 gram of fat) and a side salad.  Makes 4 servings (3 grams fat/180 calories per serving)

    Enjoy!!!  Kay

Re: Recipe Reviews from The Alli Diet Plan Book

you guys are right the blueberry muffins are great. i didnt care for the salsa on the margerita chicken either but the chickin was good. i have also made the stuffed bell peppers yummy even my kids loved them but instead of cooking them in a sause pan i boild some water put the cleaned peppers in until they turned alittle darker softened up it only takes a few minutes. drained them on a cup towel then stuffed them placed then in a baking pan with foil bunched up aruond them to keep them from falling over and baked them at 350 for 30 minutes. very good enjoy

Re: Recipe Reviews from The Alli Diet Plan Book

I've not made anything but the Marg Chicken. However, I do more "creative cooking" in the fall and winter months. So I've got the book laying on the counter so I can go through it this weekend and make my shopping list.

I made the Pasta Carbonara from page 262. It was pretty decent, but didn't have enough flavor for my family. I think I will add more garlic next time.
