You're not prying. Infact, I include my BMI so that it's not assumed that I'm in a normal range (even though I wish that I was). The BMI height and weight charts are really just an "estimate" of what you should be at but to get a more accurate assessment you can use other methods. Try going to http://www.healthchecksystems.com/tbf.htm and it will tell you about body fat analysis.
So, long story short....I have a small frame, alot of weight around my waist and not enough lean muscle (that's why I lift weights with high weights and low reps to build muscle). I also was extemely sick when I was pregnant with my daughter and I immediately dropped 15 lbs (mostly muscle mass). All of that together means that when I have a fat caliper used or a BIA scale it tells me that I'm unfortunitely around 33% body fat range:(
