Re: Is anyone going for the "big" goal?

I am starting today. A little nervous.  I am doing it with my sister, who in my opinion, does NOT need to lose any weight.  I was actually thin until I got pregnant.  Now, almost 8 years later and 3 children, the youngest being almost 5, I still have this extra weight!  So sad!  I am about 5`9, 260 lbs. I am sickened that I let myself go.  I just got eye surgery a couple of weeks ago, Custom Vue, and yesterday got highlights in my hair.  Now I just need to get my body back. I know this will work, if I try and stick with it.  I have difficulty with will power!  Also, can you drink wine on this?  I LOVE my wine at night!  any tips on how to stay on with this, please let me know.  For me it may be better to get the Lean Cuisine meals that are already prepared, is that ok?  Will it still work?  Thanks for your help and PLEASE if anyone wants to buddy up, that would be great.  Oh. I would like to get back down to 160.  Then reevaluate from there.  So I have a 100 lb weight loss to be where I want to be.  But for now, I would LOVE to see 199 just to be under 200!  Thanks so much!

Re: Is anyone going for the "big" goal?

    hey there salem..

I am 5'5'' and started at 266 lbs also. For me, it has been about 2.5 weeks and I have lost about 10.2 lbs (gotta love those digital scales.) It seems like we are in similar situations, so maybe we should team up to offer support. Good luck to you!

Re: Is anyone going for the "big" goal?

I have had the same feelings about being embarassed about not being able to fit in the seats at fun activities too(I haven't been to Kings Dominion in over 11 years).  I finally went with my 4 year old son and his daycare.  I didn't ride any rides, there were enough children to pair up on the children's rides, but I went.  And I ate healthy while in the park as well.   I was able to turn away from the slushes, and deserts, because I knew that those would take an hour to burn  on the treadmill.

Also I have kept this memory deep inside, I went to Busch Gardens, stood in line for Apollo's Chariot got in the seat and the ride operator asked me to step out because the restraints wouldn't close properly.  How Devastating......but that didn't stop my addiction to food and denial of reality.  Now 5 years later.......it hits me...hey chick...do something, stop saying "I am the every day fat person...there are millions like me"

Re: Is anyone going for the "big" goal?

I have big goals also!  I started at 304 when my doc put me on a prescription appetite suppressant drug last September.  My doc stopped taking my insurance in January, so I stopped taking the prescription when it ran out around March.  I lost more than 40 lbs by June before I hit a plateau.  Alli finally helped me break through the plateau!  I started 3 weeks ago and have lost 3 lbs...I know I can do better...just have to start sticking to my calorie and fat goals!  When I weighed in yesterday I was at 255!  It took about 30 lbs before anyone said anything about my weight loss.  Last week I had to go shopping for new pants because my old ones were drooping so much at the waist that I was walking all over the hems.  I was in a tight 28 before and now am in a comfortable 24.  Although in a plus size section, I was actually able to shop at a "regular" store!

I'm so glad someone posted about the amusement rides.  The last time I went to the amusement park, maybe 5 or so years ago, I panicked through each line, searching each sign for a weight limit, thinking I was going to get up there, not fit and be asked to get off.  Thank goodness it didn't happen, but my fear kept me from really enjoying myself.  I haven't been back since.  I'm in Illinois though and my family is all in TX, so we fly 1-2 times a year.  On a flight in January this year and again last month I was so excited because for the first time in years I did not have to get a seat belt extension from the attendant!

Re: Is anyone going for the "big" goal?

I am 29 yrs old, I am 5'6" and I started Alli 2 days ago @ 267#, I current;y weight 265# YEAH!  My ultimate goal is to get down to around 150#, so a total lose of 117#.  My first mini goal is 250#, just to get my self started.

my next goal will probably be about 225#, then down to 200# by February 2008.

I think that choosing mini goals with in a larger over all goal is helpful, because it is not white so over whelming, and it give me mini celebrations to congradulate myself!

"Im so tired of going any where and the first thing i do is look around to see if I"m the fattest one there."

I am so glad to know I am not the only one that does this.  It sounds aweful to say it, but when I see someone that is bigger than me, I get a feeling that I can only describe as a sort of relief, that maybe this time I won't be the person everyone is staring at!

Re: Is anyone going for the "big" goal?

Wow, I'm glad I found this thread!  I started my diet back on 3/17/07 and lost 33lbs before starting on ALLI the first of this month.  From here I want to lose 144 more lbs. WI was on Friday the 10th and I had lost 5 lbs and I was thrilled!  It has definitely worked on speeding up the process.  My biggest challenge is working enough exercise into my days but I've discovered anything that I do, including housework can work up a sweat if you put a little extra oomph into it!  Personally, I'm also surprised at the amount of food you CAN eat on the program.  Being hungry is not a problem but cravings can be.  I haven't had any TE's and that keeps me from giving into those.

Re: Is anyone going for the "big" goal?

Yes, I am going for the big goal, to lose almost half my body weight.

This is my first day posting.  I've been taking Alli since 07/20 with not much success. The best thing I have done is exercise for 30-45 minutes five or six times a week.  My challenge is alcohol and my biggest temptation is not during dinner but while I am preparing it.  I think I eat another meal during that time.

This thread has many touching posts.  Like Lilpixie I am always monitoring my "place".  Seeing that I am not the heaviest one-wherever- decreases my anxiety.  There are places I would never dream of going looking like this.  Seats scare me, especially those in airplanes and restaurants.

To break this down to mini goals is all I can do because thinking of where I was compared with where I am makes me just want to cry.

I am determined though, to stick with this. "Nothing tastes as good as thin feels" is a wonderful mantra.

    Thanks for listening.

    A.
