Re: BBW .... BRAINS, BEAUTY & WIT

     Hey Bobbi,

Glad I could be of service. *bows*

If I'm eating out by myself or I can't find anyone to split a plate with I tend to quietly ask my server to take half of my dish and go ahead and box it up before they bring it out and keep it in the back until they bring my check.  It always helps.  Of course it might be fun to see the server's reaction to our pulling our scales and measureing cups and spoons. *grins* It might give us a laugh or two.  Course nothing can beat the stir some of my friends caused a little while ago.  We are all art students and we love Anime (Japanese cartoons, but trust me, these are not for the little ones.)  From time to time we go to conventions.  They tend to.....um.....dress up like some of the characters. Yes these are adult people dressing like anime characters. (Not me.  I'm there for the art.   Well....I have donned a pair of cat ears before but that's it. LOL)  When we left the hotel to go get something to eat none of my friends changed clothes and I think they gave most of the staff a bit of a fright.  Within minutes the whole place filled with cosplayers.  (It's what it's usually called.)  I've got some of the most interesting photos. Yeah, I think they'd rather have the measuring stuff on the table.  LOL Thanks for my A.  I shall treasure it always. ^_~

Believe it or not, Alabama.  It's hot as fire during the day but it cools off nicely at night time, for now anyway.  It's supposed to be warmer tomorrow night. Ick...poor you.  I hate the heat.  I want it to be warm enough to swim and get no hotter.  Does the rain cool it off any or is it like here and just steams everything?  Yup, I do have my own pool.  My mom and dad bought it for me just a little while ago.  Yeah, I can imagine trying to swim laps in a hot tub.  *paddle, paddle OW! MY KNEES!* LOL.  Sorry, I'm in a silly mood if you couldn't tell. Hmmm...there's a thought when it gets hot.  Instead of a hot tub a cold tub.  I like the idea for summer.  Speaking of pools I need to get some Citronella tiki torches to go around before the mosqittos carry me off.  They were dive bombing us last night, Kamikaze style.  I think we have the biggest mosqittos in the world.  Some of those suckers are HUGE!!

Oh, I am so happy.  I'm wearing a shirt I haven't been able to wear in almost a year! WOOT!  Even then it wouldn't stay down and I was constantly tugging and pulling at it.  Today, I haven't even given it a thought. ^_^   Don't you just love it when you can reclaim clothing"  I know I do.

    Have a great day.

Re: BBW .... BRAINS, BEAUTY & WIT

    Hi Linda -

Wow, I was way off - for some reason I thought you were in Florida.  That is so nice - a beach 20 minutes away.  I hope you get to spend plenty of time there this week while you're on vacation.  As you mentioned, hot is hot, but it's so much nicer when you're at the beach.  You are really good with your walking.  When it's hot it's hard to get motivated to go out and walk.  I have Leslie Sansone Indoor walking DVDs, but it's just not the same.  I'll be glad when it's cooler so I can walk outside again.  Last week I did take my dogs for a walk in the morning before work, but it was still rather muggy out and my dogs didn't seem to enjoy it that much - and they usually love their walks.  I'm in Tucson, AZ by the way - nothing like the desert in the summer :-)  Unfortunately, I can't think of any beaches that would be 20 minutes away - heck, the closet beaches to me are probably in California :-)

Have fun planting your veggies tonight - how lucky you are!  I would love to be able to have a garden, but my thumb is not very green and my last few attempts proved that :-)  There's nothing better than fresh veggies from the garden (well, maybe KFC/Taco Bell, but we won't even go there :-)

Take Care Linda and have a wonderful evening!

    Hi Rachel -

I just wanted to write a quick note since I'll be leaving work shortly - I'll try to get back on tonight and write more, but I just wanted to mention - you are such a goofball - in the best way possible of course!!  You also hit on something we have a little bit in common - I love anime - my favorites are Big O, Lupin the Third and Trigun.  I tried watching Fullmetal Alchemy but it was a little too graphic for me at times.  I also liked Hi Hi Puffy Ami Yumi but not sure if that is considered anime.  I'm no expert of course, but I do love some of the shows.  Just thought I'd share that :-)

Take care and have a wonderful time swimming tonight.  If I don't get back to you tonight, it will definitely be tomorrow!

LOL, Thanks, I try. No, really, what's the point of life if you can't have a little fun? I'm silly half the time and depressed the other, go figure. I just enjoy having a good time. Really? *rubs eyes and reads again* A fellow anime fan? Here? *Glomps* (for those who have no clue it's kinda like a running bear hug.) I don't care much for Mecha (big machines and robots) but I love Lupin and Trigun.  You know the guy that does the american voice for Vash has his own band.  It's called Eyeshine.  Totally awesome.  I jammed out with them at the last convention I went to. I must admit as violent as it can be FMA (FullMetal Alchemist) is a favorite of mine. LOL I have HiHi Puffy Ami Yumi on DVD. It's awesome.  It's not truly anime but I like it and it's anime style plus it gets points for the band actually being real and on tour.  Personally I like Saiyuki.  Beautiful art and good story line. Uh-oh I think my inner otaku is trying to come out.  I'm such an anime nerd. LOL.  I even draw the stuff.  I wish the board would allow us to post pictures. Anyway, this is a subject I could go on and on about but I won't bore you to death, I promise. Thanks for sharing.  It's good to know I'm not the only one. My parents think I'm eternally six or something.  They just don't get it. Speaking of anime I'm getting ready for a conviention in September called Anime Weekend Atlanta.  I hope to lose enough to meet my goal by then. *crosses fingers*

Thanks, I did have a good time.  I'm flash frozen and even after a hot shower I'm still cold. LOL.  The water wasn't that cold when I first got in.  You have a good night.

    Until tomorrow.

Re: BBW .... BRAINS, BEAUTY & WIT

Bobbi - did I know you were in Tuscon ?  Or is my old age getting to me and I just forgot?  I visited out there ohhhhhhh about 13 or so years ago - flew out to meet someone from on-line.  I LOVED it there .... heat and no humidity - great for a fat girl hahaha

My niece lives outside of Phoenix somewhere ... first and only time I met her was that week I was there (long story).

Re: BBW .... BRAINS, BEAUTY & WIT

Well Sher, I'm not too sure if I ever told you I was in Tucson, so I must have the same syndrome - that darn "old age" thing!!  Most of the summer, and rest of the year for that matter are heat and no humidity, but not so nice during monsoon in June, July and maybe August - plenty of humidity and awesome monsoon rain storms.  My in-laws were visiting recently - mid-June - and they were absolutely miserable here (they are from Illinois).  I don't think they will ever come back during this time of year again :-)

If you're ever out this way again - like if you visit your niece again - I'm not too far from Phoenix!!

The countdown is on - Celia's party on Saturday - couple days away!!

Re: BBW .... BRAINS, BEAUTY & WIT

Oh my gosh - thank you for remembering :)  :)   Yes - I was just told today (or asked) to get some "eggless" cake recipe's as my older son's daughter (she'll be 4 in September) is allergic to eggs.  So I'm going to make that cake mix w/soda recipe tonight and see how my daughter-in-law likes it.  We just make that into some cupcakes for Saturday.  I'm just hoping we have good weather between 4-6pm !!

It's just muggy here in Ohio ... no way around it but like I said, I enjoyed the weather when I visited AZ - the male company was another story hahaha

    Sher,

Let me know if the cake mix with soda doesn't work out.  I have recipes for white and chocolate vegan cakes that are quite good that I'll be more than willing to share. (nope, I'm not a vegan but one of my friends is.) Good luck  with the party.

Re: BBW .... BRAINS, BEAUTY & WIT

    Hi Rachel -

I wrote a pretty long post to you earlier and it must've been deleted by the moderators because it hasn't been posted.  I do not have access to my personal email at work, so when I get home tonight I will see why the post was deleted and re-send it - I promise I will do this tonight.  I have a feeling why it may have not gone through - and what I'm thinking is pretty silly, but it's the only thing I can think of.  Anyways, I didn't forget to write you today, I think I just got censored :-)

I'm pretty busy right now at work, but if it calms down before I leave I'll try to get back on before I go home!

    Take Care young lady!

    Hi Rachel -

This is my third time trying to post this message to you - it's being deleted for "offensive content" and for the life of me I can't figure out what's so offensive about cartoons and measuring implements while eating out.

I've changed a few things again so hopefully the third time is the charm!

    Have a good night!

You attempted to post the following message on the myalli.com community message board:
    ________________________________________________________

    Good Morning Rachel -

As you can see, I didn't get on the message boards again last night - after I checked all of my email it was pretty much time for bed :-) For future reference, I am definitely going to do as you do at restaurants - have them box 1/2 of the meal prior to table delivery. If they gave me a box to do it myself - it probably wouldn't happen. I really couldn't bring my measuring implements out because my husband would be moritified - he's grown accustomed to me bringing my own salad dressing and other condiments but I don't think he'd appreciate much more than that!! I love your story though - how wonderful that must've been - I bet the look on some people's faces was priceless!!

Good to see you got your swimming in once again! So, Atlanta - hot during the day and pleasant at night - sounds great - now what about humidity, any of that? You would think with monsoon season here that it would be nice after the rains, but that just isn't the case - it gets really muggy afterwards. So far this monsoon season has been a lot of heat and humidity, and not as much daily rain as usually happens. We didn't get a drop yesterday, so my dreary day never came - it was bright and sunny all day long. Supposed to rain today, but I really didn't notice any clouds. You definitely need to get those citronella candles - besides helping keep the mosquitos away it will look really nice around your pool. We have them around our porch in back and I like how it looks at night (not so sure if they really help with the bugs though :-)

That is pretty funny about the anime. As mentioned, I am definitely no expert, but I know what I like to watch. That's funny that you say your parents think you're perpetually six - my husband must think the same about me and I'm 40 years old :-) I'm always watching cartoons - just love them. My dogs must like them too, because when I leave the house I leave a tv on for them set to Cartoon network. I've never been to any type of conventions before (unless you count Beanie Baby conventions - also back in the day when they were popular) but it sounds like you have a really good time!!

You should have no problem reaching your first goal by September - you are doing very well with your program - and all that swimming!

Have a great Wednesday Rachel - talk soon!

    Bobbi

Re: BBW .... BRAINS, BEAUTY & WIT

     Hey Bobbi,

O.o Offensive content? LOL That's too funny.

Yeah, it would be the same if I did it myself.  I have the "little bit more" syndrome.  I put half of it away and then I think Well, a little bit more won't hurt. LOL  I'm glad to see I'm not the only one with a bottle of fat-free in my purse. ^_^ Poor hubby.  You're probably right.  Oh you should have seen their faces. LOL. They didn't have a clue what was going on.   We were at one of these little places that you place your order and give your name and they call you up to get it when it's ready.  The people who came in after us were giving them character names instead of their given names so these poor people were calling out all these hard to pronounce Japanese names.  By the time we got out of there we were all laughing.  One person even got stuck in the door and had to have help from several people including the store manager to get out.  The wings on his costume became wedged in and he couldn't take them off.  I know they needed a vacation after that. They get points for being good sports about it. I'm still not sure who looked more in shock, the staff or the other customers. It was pretty priceless. *giggle*

Humid.  You have NO idea.  It's so humid.  If you have hair like mine it's not a good thing.  I look like friz and fropp when the humidity is high.  I hate our summers.  You can go to the beaches in Florida and it's cooler, no kidding. The nights are only pleasant for now.  When the humidity kicks in, you won't want to be outside at night for long unless you are swimming. I hope those torches will do the trick.  Those bugs think I'm a late night, all-you-can-eat dinner buffet. LOL *scratches bug bites*

The way I look at it is that if you want to stay young, act the part.  You don't have to stop doing it just because you get older. Truth be told I watch regular cartoons, too.  That's funny because my cat likes to watch cartoon network. If you enjoy anime you really should think about going to one. They're so much fun not to mention you will get to see stuff that hasn't been released to the public yet.  I go to as many as I can afford to go to.  You're right, I do have a really good time, always. *big grin*

Thanks for that.  I sure am trying hard. Good luck on you weight loss as well.  I feel like I'm just talking about me, so what's up in your neck of the woods?

    Have a great Thursday,

    Rachel

    Floats Well

Came home this afternoon ... put on my bathing suit and proceeed to start vacuuming out the pool (ok - it's only one of those 10' intex blow up pools but my 3 yr old granddaughter loves it and it's more than enough to get me wet).  So anyway .. invision a fat lady, putting a childs float under her chest/belly then trying to lay down on it in the pool.  POOF there went this red inflated projectile OUT of the pool and and big splash and me tumbling down into the water.  I must have sat there and just laughed at the site I had to be for 5 minutes !!!

Then later on hubby found there's a leak at the very bottom of the pool ... grrrrrrr.  So my daughter-in-law is coming over tomorrow morning, getting in the pool and going to attempt to put the patch on.  I mean - this pool is an intricle part of Celia's party Saturday!!!

I was even able to exercse in it this evening . ... bummer :(

SOOO the party is at my house .. 4-6pm Saturday !!

Poor thing. LOL At least you were able to laugh about it.  I hope the patch works out.   I know what you mean about not being able to exercise.  I bought groceries last night and by the time I got home, put everything away, and got the house ready for Kailey to come over today, I didn't have a chance either.  Oh well, I still lost a pound this week. W00T! I wish you luck. Have fun at the party.
