I have that  cook book. I should look at it. Just thought it would be out dated. But A recipe is a recipe.

    Re: Best Low-Fat cookbook

I just leave out the Butter Buds and switch things around like use fat free sour cream instead of making it myself...I've never seen a book with so many easy real food things turned into low fat.

Ive been on my diet since May (before alli) and have lost a little over 50 lbs cooking with the book.

    Re: Best Low-Fat cookbook

I have been more than hungry for French Fries!

Yesterday I sprayed a sheet pan with fat free olive oil spray, cut some potatoes up like fries, sprayed the top with the fat free olive oil, sprinkled with salt and pepper, baked in a 450 degree oven for about 30 minutes or until browned and devoured!   It was wonderful!

    Enjoy

    Re: Best Low-Fat cookbook

The entire series of Cooking Light cookbooks are AWESOME!! I've collected them yeraly since they came out in 1982. Obviously I stopped using them for a bit...lol!

What I like about them is they not only give you the calories, fat grams, and fiber grams,.. but also list protien, carbs, sodium, sugars, and what vitamins that particular recipe is high in. They are creative, generally easy (but often involved) and the photos are great!

Oh the best thing? They are delicious! One of my faves is a marble cheesecake that has only 7gm fat per slice instead of the average of 45gm per slice!!!!

    I'm hungry now............

    Height: 5'8"
    Pre-Alli: 182lbs
    Alli SW: 180lbs
    Alli CW: 161lbs
    My GW: 152lbs
Goal Date: A.S.A.P.! PLEASE! 9lbs to go!

    Re: Best Low-Fat cookbook

Just got this in the mail today (purchased off Ebay):  Holly Clegg - trim & terrific.  WOW there are some great recipe's in this book.  It's not like I don't have enough cookbooks, recipe's or the ability to go on-line and find them - I guess I got this collection of cookbooks from my mom !  (God love her)

    Re: Best Low-Fat cookbook

I read this some where on the discussion board, but not sure where. if you wanted to make french fries...cook the potatoes in the microwave for about 5 minutes then let them cool in the refrigerator and then cut, and spice them (garlic + onion powder and salt and pepper) like you would a french fry bake in the toaster oven for 10 to 15 minutes. My children thought this was the next best french fries...Thank you for who ever thought of this :)

You can also use sweet potatoes...they come out good too. enjoy.
