Hi I am Pam in Savannah Georgia. Are there others in Savannah Georgia on the Alli Plan.  If so maybe we can start a group?

    Re: Alli in Savannah Georgia

    Hi Pam:

It's nice to meet you. I've lived here for about 40 years.  I'll be turning 48 on Friday.  I saw a commercial a few days ago, but didn't really pay attention to it.   Today while in Walmart, I saw it and stopped to read what it was all about.  When I saw it say Orlistat, I firgured it was worth a shot.

I am just so discusted with myself.   I've done the Overeaters Anonymous meeting here for several years.  Even though it's a great support group/program,  I myself refused to give up the sugar and flour.   What's pushed me to do this now is that we're going to a yearly family reunion in West Virginia.  I want to be able to have energy to be a little active.   This will be the first weekend in August.

Anyway,  I've been married 25 years and my husband has been great about not giving my hell for my weight situation.  We married at 130 and now I'm 241.  We have a daughter who graduated from GaTech in August and now works in Atlanta.  I know it's been 5 years since she left, but without all the things I did for her and with her,  I guess my live has just gotten boring.  There's no excuse of not having time for exercise now.

Enough for now,  I need to spend some time reading all the info on this program.   In the moring will be my first day.

Best of Luck to you,  CathyJ

    Re: Alli in Savannah Georgia

Hi Pam:    I sent a long introduction a few hours ago and still don't see it.  Maybe it's best you didn't have to listen to my sorrows, at least I got some of it out of my system.   Anyway,  I am 47 and work full time.  Been married 25 years and have one daughter who just graduated from GaTech and is staying in Atlanta to work.    I'll start this plan sometime this week.  I'm going to have to really get organized or I'll have trouble with this fat issue.  I see from various post it has bad side effects.     I'm glad to see someone from Savannah here.

I'll be back soon to post again.  Have a great day tomorrow,  CathyJ

Hi, I'm Linda and I also live in Savannah, Ga. I was trying to find the group that I had been reading before, and now I can't. But, in the mean time, I ran across this one. Surely there are more than 2 of us here in Savannah on alli, don't ya think? glad to know you are here though.

    Re: Alli in Savannah Georgia

    Hi Cathy and Pam,

it's me again. I hope you are both doing well. Have you both started taking alli? I started last Friday and I have to tell you, I haven't had any problems at all. I have been trying to be very careful, of course, but I was still a little nervous. So anyway, so far so good.

I am going to be 43 the end of next month. I have been dieting off and on since I was just a little kid. I have done very well on some of them too. Of course, once I stop the diet all the weight, and then some, came right back on. I am currently doing WW as well. I'm hoping that this gives me a bit more of a boost, as it's going slower than I'd like. I know that I shouldn't go to fast, but I have weeks where I don't lose anything at all. So, maybe this is what I've been waiting for. I have a long way to go, but if I'm making progress, I'm willing to deal with it.

It sure does take a long time to get things posted I've noticed. I hope it picks up soon. It's hard to keep up with each other otherwise. Well, good luck with the alli. Hope to hear from you both again soon.

    Linda

    Re: Alli in Savannah Georgia

    Hi Lynda:

It's nice to meet you.  I have about 10 women at the doctors office I work in, that weight in on Monday nights at Eisenhower.   They love it but I can't handle the constant talking and searching for those 1-2 point snacks.  One is not enough and I can't control myself.  I've not started the plan yet.  I'm waiting for Saturday.  We've got plans for a celebration Friday night, and I don't want to chance the treatment effects happening at work.

For months now I've been trying to make myself get started on The South Beach Diet.   Now I've got to change train of thought from low-sugar to low-fat.   I've never really counted calories either.   I am a lifetime member of WW but that was though counting units.  I think this change has gotten me bumbfounded so to speak.  I just need to get out the materials and get down to reading and using the web-site.   I must say, I really love the layout of the site.  Fresh and welcoming comes to mind I guess.

Well, I'm off to do some reading,  CathyJ

Can this message board be set to give me an email notification when post are done.  I've looked at my profile and it says I'll except email from the site, but I've not gotten any notices.

    Thanks so very much,  CathyJ

    Re: Alli in Savannah Georgia

    Hi Cathy,

I can't believe that you mentioned the weigh in on Monday at Eisenhower! That is the meeting that I attend. What a very small world we live in. I love that meeting. I love the leader of that meeting, she is so great! I currently am at 33 points per day, so I don't really have to worry too much about the 1 or 2 pt. snacks. But, I must say that there are so many 100 calorie treats out there, {all the ones I've tried are just 2 pts.}, that I'm set. My husband is even buying them for us. He likes them too. He is also eating much less fat and calories now. I'm not going to mess with cooking 2 different meals all the time and he is great and doesn't mind. He has even been looking for things that he can cook on the grill for us.

I tried the South Beach Diet a couple of years ago. I did great on phase 1, but as soon as I started phase 2, I stopped losing weight. I did Atkins several years ago and that didn't work for me at all. I will say that I lost about 100bs. a few years back. I did the Carbohydrate Addicts Diet and then Somersizing. I also went vegetarian for a summer as well. {I read a book by Robin Cook, I don't recommend it if you enjoy eating meat} I still need to lose at least 100 more lbs. But, I've been gaining and losing about 20lbs. since then. My body is just way too smart. {I have been dieting off and on since I was 9 yrs. old) Which is why I am trying alli. I'm hoping this is going to be the key.

Well, this is getting a bit long, I should go, hoping to hear from you again, Linda
