Happy Birthday Holly and welcome!
This thread is wonderful and the people here are full of information, support, and encouragement!
Protein is very important to being comfortable with the new lifestyle you are developing. I find that eating protein first thing (not til after my coffee of course) keeps me feeling full and stops the cravings I used to have eating the old way.
Hello to all the newbies that I haven't had a chance to address...everyone should be congratulated for making the decision to change your lives! It is not easy, but it does get better as you learn what your body needs versus what you think it wants.
Our bodies are incredible systems. Sometimes I think my body has a mind of its own because it seems that it fights me to hang onto the fat. My theory is that we are the way we are due to Darwinian development of the survivial of the species. Bodies that store fat easiest are actually superior to the survival of the human race....so we are the Best of the Best LOL! By the way, I'm also a legend in my own mind (and I have a very twisted sense of humor ;-)!)
Anyway I want to offer this bit of encouragement based on my experience with alli over the past year. This is the only plan I have ever tried that has not resulted in yo-yo dieting. I have taken and kept off 25 pounds and over 20". My doctor is amazed at how well alli has worked for me. I have even been able to completely quit taking several medications that I had been on for a number of years. I have more energy, I feel better, I have learned portion control, and I do not crave certain foods. I've even found appropriate substitutions for the "comfort foods" I used to eat during that time of the month. My weight loss is slow but steady and it is staying off!
So come back to the threads often to see what ideas you might try and to ask anyone for advice. We are all here for one another and we welcome you to our new world!
