    Re: Headaches

My headaches (chronic migraines) have significantly DECREASED since I started Alli on June 25. I was having at least one a week, usually more. Now I have only had 3 total since starting.

One thing to look at, have you significantly cut down on caffeine? That can cause severe headaches and if that is the cause it will eventually subside. I had to slowly decrease my caffeine, but I do keep the 100 calorie mini cans of Coke in the fridge for when I feel a migraine coming on. And I be sure to add those to my food journal. I have to drink at least my 1 cup of coffee in the mornings or I will get a headache for sure.

I hope you can get to the bottom of the headaches. And 4 lbs in 3 weeks is great. Remember 1-2 lbs a week is "normal" so you are doing great!

    Re: Headaches

Vette ... I get headaches occasionally but I know they aren't caused by Alli as I had them prior to taking these pills.  As far as your weight loss - it's a loss and not a gain, think of it that way.  My loss is VERY slow but if I'd get my tush in gear and follow my fat grams and exercise routing as I should be - I'd lose more !!  I've been on the pills since June 23 and I have lost 8 lbs. (patting myself on the back).

    Re: Headaches

I have had migraines for a few years now.  You may want to keep a strict food journal for a couple of weeks, noting when you have headaches.  It may be something that you are eating or drinking.  Diet drinks contain aspartame which can cause headaches.  I stay away from those myself.  Also, red meat, wine, and cheese are some of my triggers.  CONGRATULATIONS on your 4 pounds.  I try to remember that when the weight comes off slow it usually stays off longer!  Good Luck!

    Re: Headaches

I just started Alli on Monday, but I've been having the same problem. I don't drink caffeine -- no soda or coffee -- and am eating like I should. I'm very active (between 60 and 90 mins of exercise at least 5 days per week) and drink tons of water. But within 30 mins of popping the Alli pill, I get some pretty bad headaches (eyes hurt and lightheaded a bit too). I don't have a history or headaches and nothing else in my lifestyle has changed so I'm pretty sure it must be the drug. I'm surprised more people are experiencing this as well! Are we an extreme minority or are people just not noticing it?

    Re: Headaches

    Hi Kimikokopuffs,

Welcome to the board. I want to point out that alli is for people who are overweight and obese. I am not aware of headaches being a side effect of alli. I recommend that you post this question on the board for the pharmacist. You should include your height, weight, any medications that you are taking and any medical conditions that you have.

    Good luck,

    Betty Kovacs, MS, RD
