I'd also like to add this. Once I grasped that upping the fat content while keeping your caloric intake the same helped you lose more weight with Alli, it's made a lot of sense to me, so hopefully others will find it helpful too!
Here's another reason to up your fat intake while on the Alli plan:
Assume
you eat your 1600 calories a day, and only 20 grams of fat per day.
Alli works by blocking 25% of the fat that you eat, so Alli would block
5 grams of fat in this case. Since a gram of fat has 9 calories, Alli
blocked 45 calories for the day, leaving your net intake at 1555
calories.
On the other hand, if you eat 1600 calories a day, and
your recommended 51 grams of fat (remember, 3 grams are in a snack at
which you don't take Alli), Alli will block 12.75 grams of fat, which
is 114.75 calories. Your net caloric intake here is 1485.25 calories.
That's a significant difference from the first case.
Bottom line is, if you eat the recommended fat, Alli will cut more calories from you diet and you'll lose weight faster.
Good
luck! I know it's counterintuitive to eat more fat, but as long as you
eat the fat and stay within your calorie guidelines you'll be better
off. (And I think fat helps me stay more satisfied with what I eat.
It's tasty.)
SW: Officially 181, had seen up to 185 though. July 2007
CW: 132
GW: Originally it had been 134, set many years ago when I never thought it was a feasible goal. I've hit that and am floundering a bit trying to get to my new goal of 125 which would be a BMI of 22.
