    Re: Fat

You really need to eat the recommended amount of fat for Alli to be effective.  If you look through some of the posts, you'll see that some people report losing little or no weight -- and they are eating low amounts of fat.

If you're going to spend the money for the capsules, you need to follow the Program.  And over 100 studies showed that people who followed the recommended diet + took the capsules lost 50% more weight than those who just dieted.

    I hope this helps.

    Re: Fat

I have a similar situation. I am on my second day of my 19gm fat meal and 1800 cal daily diet. I am a single guy and don't do much cooking so I go with prepared meals such a Healty Choice, South Beach etc. Although they satisfy me, they are low in fat grams and calories. I eat three meals a day and fruits and vegetables in between. Typical Example:

    2 eggo waffles 1gm fat 120 cal

Weigh Watchers Chicken Parm 5gms fat 290 cal

Boston Market Beef Sirloin/Noodles 12gms fat 470 cal

This adds up to 17 gms fat for day and 880 cal for day

Any suggestions how to add to each meal to  bring me up to par?

    Re: Fat

This is really not a healthy way to eat at all -- and you're running the risk of turning your metabolism down making weight loss difficult if not impossible.

That's because at around 1,000 calories or below the body begins to conserve energy for vital tasks like maintaining heart, lungs and kidneys.  It's sees this as "starvation mode" and will not lose weight.

In addition, even though you're having ready-to-eat meals the pattern is deficient in fruits, vegetables and dairy products.  You don't have to be a cook to include these items.

Take a look at the Sample Menus for your calories level, and substitute similar types and amounts of food.  You can choose frozen meals that are similar and add a salad with oil and vinegar dressing, a container of yogurt and a piece of fruit.  This will not only bring up your calories and fat -- it will improve the nutrition profile of your meals.

    I hope this helps.

    Re: Fat

I  believe I was having the same issue with not eating enough.  I am going to try to eat 1800 calories and see where it takes me.

    Thanks

    Re: Fat

I was having the same problem. For years I was just using SBD meals or WW. So when I started Alli, I had to put fat and calories INTO my diet. How weird is that!

Even with the prepared meals, if you add in things like an apple and some peanut butter as the desert,  you not only increase your fat grams and calories but you get in your daily fruit as well.

    Re: Fat

    Hello General Fat.

I had the same problem. I solved it by adding things to what I ate.  For instance, I'm sure that you are eating that EGGO with syrup. I use sugar free syrup (35 calories/0 fat per 1/4 cup) and also added lite margarine (45 calories/5 grams fat per Tablespoon). Also, I ate 3 Waffles instead of 2, this may help.

For the frozen lunches & dinners, I added a salad with lite dressing, thus adding calories and fat.  Also, I added a vegetable such as grean beans or brocolli, with another Tablespoon of that lite margarine. I like to add a roll or slice of bread (I invented a real good "garlic toast" to add and it helps, receipt follows. Also try to drink a glass of 2% milk with some of these meals. all of these things have helped me to eat more healthy and reach my calorie/fat goals.

Garlic Toast                                                                                                                      1 slice french bread 130calories/1 fat                                                                                  fat free margarine 5 calories/0 fat (I use the fat free for this because the fact that it doesn't taste  very good does not matter because the spices cover that up anyway)                                garlic powder  0calories/0fat                                                                                                 2 teaspoons grated parmesan cheese 20calories/1.5fat                                                 Spread bread with fat free margarine, sprinkle with garlic powder (light or heavy, depending on your taste), sprinkle with parmesan cheese. Place on cookie sheet and place under the broiler just until beginning to brown. Be careful and don't look away, because it will burn fast.                                                                                                                               155 calories/2.5 fat                                                                                                              If I want to cut the calories I substitute the french bread for lite regular sliced bread 40 calories/1fat.  In this case the totals are 65 calories/2.5fat. If I choose this option, I can have two servings, WOW!

    Hope this helps,                                                                                             Linda
