    Please be honest!

I purchased alli last week and I still havn't taken a pill. I've been eating low/calorie, low fat food but I'm scared of the "treatment effects". Can you honestly only get them if you go over the 15 gram of fat per meal? Or can it still "just" happne? Could you really poop your pants? Could oily spotting run down your leg? I mean these are all things I'm hearing and I find it hard to believe this would happen if you are following the plan.

I would like honest answers from people who are following the directions. Eating right, exercising and taking alli.

Thank you so much. I really want to join all of you on your journey but I'm scared.

I have been taking Alli since Thursday afternoon, I was on South Beach Diet for 3 months before starting Alli, so I was eating right to begin with, so I didn't have to adjust my diet before starting Alli.  I was pretty constipated on SBD even with eating lots of fiber. The only thing I have noticed with Alli is that I'm having normal bowel movements now, which is nice lol.  I did notice a few tiny grease bubbles in the toilet this morning but other than that no other effects.  I was afraid to leave the house had my "emergency" bag packed was wearing panty liners and everything at first.  We went to friends for dinner Friday night, so I wasn't able to control exactly what I ate, but didn't have any problems and this is day 5 for me so by now I would think I'd know...Good luck, just follow the plan, take precautions, because it does affect us all differently at first and don't be afraid.

    Re: Please be honest!

I do not go over 15 grams of fat per meal.  I exercise maybe every other day.  I have not had any problems with Alli.  I've been on it since 6/14.  If you eat something that is high in fat then you will get the side effects.  Alli is used so the fat does not get absorbed into your system.  The only place the fat is going to go if it's not absorbed is out.  If you stay under the 15 you shouldn't have a problem.

    Re: Please be honest!

I eat a low fat diet (WW) and started alli yesterday. Nothing has happened yet. Just a little stomach gurgling after dinner last night and dinner contained a little light cheese.

    Re: Please be honest!

I started back on Weight watchers last week and I am on my third day of taking Alli. So far only treatment effects I have noticed have been gas, but I had that problem when I was on WW last year so nothing major. I find that by being aware of the possible treatment effects it helps me really journal and count my points/fat grams intake every day so that i don't have any effects.

    Re: Please be honest!

I understand your concerns. I think these message boards are a great place to start. There is lots of conversation about people's experiences with alli. Look under the"perosnal experiences" boards.

The treatment effects come from how much fat you eat. The more fat you eat, the more will be blocked and therefore, the more that will come out "unabsorbed". Everyone is different but keep in mind....less than 5% od people in clinical trials with alli dropped out due to the treatment effects. So your chances are pretty good you should be satisfied.

Good luck and we are here to answer your questions if you need us.

    Re: Please be honest!

I have been taking the pills since lunchtime Thursday and have been following the recommended low-fat diet and have not had any adverse effects.  Many people on the message boards are reporting the same.  Good luck!

    Re: Please be honest!

I have been a strong supported of alli since I first heard about it in feb. I rushed out to get it and started taking it on friday morning. I have strictly followed the plan staying plenty below the alloted fat grams. I was fine fri-sun. However, this morning at work I experienced oily leakage. The worst part was that I had no clue until I went into the bathroom. Fortunately I wore a panty liner just in case so it didn't soak through to my chair, but it was still completely uncalled for. I can understand if I ate something high fat, but I didn't! I'm puzzled as to why this happened and somewhat discouraged.

    Re: Please be honest!

You shouldn't be scard of the "treatment effects", especially if you're eating a low-fat diet.  I personally, purposely ate 3 tacos the other day, which per Weight Watchers, I had the pts for.  I definitely experienced the "treatment effects", but this is something that we've been warned about.  I haven't had any leakage or oily farts or anything like that.  I used the bathroom, and there was oil in my stool.  I think the products is WONDERFUL.  If you eat the recommended fat intake, you're safe.  If you go over, you're not, but at least you know the deal.  I just wanted to be straight up with you.  I don't know what type of meal one would have to eat to have oil running down their legs that just sounds unreal and RIDICULOUS.  So far, I'm loving it!!!  From what I have experinced within the last 5 days, if I eat something bad, it normally shows in my stool the following morning, and then I'm alright the rest of the day.  Exercise and eat healthy, and you will be ok, and the weight will come off.  Good Luck EVERYONE!!!

    Re: Please be honest!

I have been taking the pills since Saturday and have no treatment effects. I am following the plan-eating low fat foods.  Just knowing what could happen if I Cheat  gives me the motivation to stay on track.

    Re: Please be honest!

I can say that the only treatment effects that have occurred with me is that I'm a bit more gassy than I have ever been! lol   It's not the crampy gas, just a feeling of the gas bubbles running around your tummy then the supreme ability to "pass gas" as well as any male!!!

My daughter is  also on the alli program and the effects have been the same for her. No problems in the bathroom as of yet, but lots of gas.

If that's all it is, I can deal with that effect...  I haven't been on it a full week yet.. so some of this may be wait and see...

    Re: Please be honest!

I'm having treatment effects w/ less than 15 grams of fat.  And yes, I am absolutely sure.  I'm on WW so I keep a very detailed journal.  For me, it even happened this morning w/ 9 grams of fat.  I just posted to ask if anyone else was noticing this.
