    meridia & alli

    I have been taking meridia and lost a couple pounds but gained it back. The doctor suggested trying Alli with meridia together. I took Alli alone for 2 weeks and I lost 3 pounds. I gained 1 pound back when I started taking Meridia again. I have  lost 2 pounds and nothing since after being on alli for 5 weeks. Is it ok to take Meridia with Alli in hopes of loosing weight or is it just counteracting each other? I was on Alli alone when I lost the 3  pounds. I gained 1 pound back when I started Meridia with the Alli. I am still taking both. Please let me know what you think about taking both together and if it has any effect on why I am not loosing any weight for the last 3 weeks. thank you!

    Re: meridia & alli

     Found this on a post that was answered for me on 8/1

    ==========

    Hi Sher,

    Alli and Meridia are 2 different weight loss medications.

    Orlistat is the active ingredient in alli (60mg) and the precription product Xenical (120mg). Orlistat only works in the gut, by inhibitng the enzyme lipase which is responsible for the breakdown of fat.

    Sibutramine is the active ingredient in Meridia .Meridia works by affecting appetite control centers in the brain.

    These 2 medications can be used together for weight loss under a physician's supervision.

    Hope this helps.
