    Re: Smoothie Recipes

I thought I should share with you a recipe that I got from Mel Brown's personal chef (You know.. the Scary Spice Girl). I got the chance to eat with him backstage and here's what she drinks after the show. I think she looks energized and in great shape, so I asked him what's in her smoothie. :) Here you go:

almond butter, almond milk, kale, spinach, mangoes

I didnt know the amounts, so I just tried this out for myself. It's FULL of nutrition and tastes pretty good to me!

1/3 c. blueberry pomegranate juice (or any tasty smoothy juice)

    2/3 c. almond milk

    1 handful kale

    1 handful spinach

2/3 c. slightly thawed frozen mangoes (I got a bag at Costco)

    1 tsp. almond butter

Feel free to change it up a bit. I checked out the nutrition on www.whfoods.org. Looks like the smoothie is packed full of good stuff!

    Re: Smoothie Recipes

I got a Magic Bullet for Christmas and I love it! I make smoothies all the time for breakfast and sometimes for a night-time snack. Last night our church youth group met and I knew that I didn't want to eat what the kids were eating so I made a smoothie and took it with me. It was very satifying. My favorite type of smootie in my Magic Bullet is:

1/3 cup of manderine oranges with juice
     1 banana
1/3 cut fat free vanilla yogurt
     Ice cubes

Very sweet and fat free dessert or breakfast. I would definately recommend the Magic Bullet to anyone who was considering buying one. :)

Re: Smoothie Recipes, Re: Protein Powder

I found Jay Robb Protein Powder is good.  I tried several until I found this brand.  The flavor is better and it is low sugar and low fat.  It is sweetened with Stevia. I bought it at my Healthfood store, but found more flavors on his web site. I like the chocolate. I think they have a plain flavor, too.

I also add a cup of cooked oatmeal to my smoothies.  It adds fiber and keeps me full longer. I really cannot taste the oatmeal, since my blender does such a good job of blending.  I cook a big bowl in the microwave and use what I need and store the rest in a covered bowl for the next time I make a smoothie.

    Re: Smoothie Recipes

I don't care for yogurt, but for the past year I've been buying Yoplait's low fat yogurt, and freezing it when I get home.  By lunch time, at work, it's still a bit frozen but not rock hard.  Yesterday, I took my Yoplait low fat AppleTurnover yogurt out of the freezer, and thawed just a tad, and added that into the blender with a splash of orange juice, skim milk and it tasted just like apple cobbler...really good.  The day before I mixed the Yoplait banana cream yogurt with a splash of orange juice, splash of skim milk, that was good also.

    Re: Smoothie Recipes

I just started my "change" today, with food. So, I don't know yet if this recipe is ok for this plan. But...I made it just now and it's simple and delicious!

I can of vanilla slim fast

    1 & 1/2 cups of frozen rasberries

    blend and enjoy!

Only 350 calories, 5g fat,  a whopping 12.5g of fiber, and 10g of protein. =)

    Re: Smoothie Recipes

This is a "Zone Diet" recipe for Berry Ice Cream, but I use it to make a smoothie... I skip the oil, and I use equal or splenda...  I use one of the bottled Crystal Light drinks to water down to get to the right consistency.

    3/4 cup light cottage cheese
    2 cups mixed frozen berries
    1 teaspoon olive oil
    Fructose or stevia (to sweeten)

    Instructions
Put all ingredients in a blender and process until it turns into a creamy berry blend.
