    calorie intake and exercise

I'm new to the Alli program and am unsure if I'm eating the appropriate number of calories.  Based on the Companion Guide, my target daily calorie intake should be 1800 calories.  I'm finding that I'm generally full with 1200 calories per day.  I'm concerned that I'm not eating enough calories for my activity level (moderate) and could be slowing down my weight loss.  Should I try to eat more daily calories?  Thanks for the help!

    Re: calorie intake and exercise

I have a similar concern, although I'm in my 50's and only workout for about 1/2 day/5days a week.  Like jlgordon, I'm very satisfied with 1200 calories, even though the guide recommends 1800.  1800 calories is a lot of food!

I have only been on the Alli program for 4 days, so the fact that I have lost nothing is no surprise.  However, if I am sabotaging my potential weight loss by not eating enough, please let me know.

    Re: calorie intake and exercise

I seem to be having the same problems. I can't seem to get in all the required calories & Fat without over eating or eating high fat foods then feeling guilty about eating high fat foods or eating too much. I am being told I am exercising to much. Lets see over exercising + under eating = weight gain. I have been told this before, but tell my military co-workers that I have gained weight because I over exercise and don't eat enough and see the look you will get.

This is my second week on alli and I do not want to put out false hope, but in the first 9 days I lost 10 LBS. I am sure it was all water weight, then in the second week after the low fat eating and over exercising I have lost no weight. What can I do to get it this program to work for me.

Do I cut the exercise or do I eat high fat foods?  Here is my exercise plan 7 days a week: I am cutting it to 5. E Trainer every day,  three days add Bike 20 Min and tread 35 min. weights 3 days. I just does not make since to me to under eat and over exercise = weight gain. Somebody please help me get on track.

I do not know if I am having side effects or not, if it is gas once in a while, hell I was having that already. If it is anything else, I am not having it. Please help.

    Monday Elliptical Trainer 45 min

    Re: calorie intake and exercise

    Hi Portiers,

Congratulations on your 10 lb. weight loss! You should be really proud of yourself. It can be completely normal to experience weeks of no weight loss. Don’t let it get you down! Stay motivated. Over time if you are consistent with your diet and exercise program you can achieve your desired weight loss goals.

This program is already working for you. You’ve already lost weight.

You should be engaging in 4-6 cardio sessions and 2-3 strength training sessions per week. You should also try to take one day off completely from exercising to allow your body some time to rest.

You should submit your dietary questions to the registered dieticians on the site.

You’re doing great! Remember that this program is often a lifestyle change for most. It is geared to help you get to your target weight and stay there.

Keep up the good work and keep us posted.

    Good Luck,

    Paul
