a question about the weight loss

Hi, I started the plan three days ago, and have been taking care to follow the meal plan online as well as exercise each day in addition to taking alli. I have noticed several threads in the message board where some folks are saying that they've lost five or six pounds in just a few days. I am going to weigh myself once a week, but I can tell that I haven't had that kind of a weight loss yet. I don't expect to - I am assuming that the plan will allow me to lose 2 pounds a week. Am I correct? I want to be sure I'm understanding the program and want to keep my goals attainable and realistic. I would like to mention that I am finding the plan easy to follow, and the meal suggestions and recipes are wonderful. Such a huge help! I'm grateful that you have this support system in addition to the medication. I didn't realize just how much fat I was consuming until I read through the books that came with my alli purchase. Such a small change to make, and hopefully it will yield big results over time. (Fingers crossed!) Thank you so much for any advice.

Re: a question about the weight loss

    Hi Littlebirdie,

You are absolutely correct about losing less than five or six pounds a week. The guidelines for a healthy weight loss are to lose 1 to 2 pounds per week. The first week or two can be more than that because of water weight. That is probably what is happening for the people who see a change after a couple of days. A number of things like sodium intake, hormones and carbohydrate intake can affect your weight each day/week so be careful not to put too much emphasis on the scale each time that you weigh. Use your food records, calories, fat and how your clothes fit as other ways to measure how it's going. It's great to see how much you have already learned. Keep up the great work, Betty
