    Re: College Students??

Thank you so much. I usually don't eat alot on campus, but thank you for the suggestions. I had another weigh in today and I lost 2 lbs. Not a lot, but its something, slow and steady wins the race right?.....well again thank you, I"m happy to know that someone else was experiencing the calorie thing.

    Re: College Students??

hey everyone! i, too am a college student. i'm a senior, graduating in may. i'm about to start alli, but i'm kind of freaking out over the treatment effects!!! can any of you offer any advice about what you did when you first started? i'm already ona pretty low fat diet, and i go to the gym generally arund 3-4 times a week. but i really never have the time to have 3 complete meals per day. i'm taking 18 credits and ih ave three jobs, so im ridiculously busy, and i have no idea how to perfectly track everything i eat and it's fat/calorie content. so i'm just a little wary about starting cause of the TEs!! if anybody can offer any suggestions or advice, id greatly appreciate it!! thanks =) Samantha

    Re: College Students??

We all definitely understand the busy schedules in college. It's important that you try to eat 3 meals and that, if you snack, the snacks are VERY low fat (less than 3 grams typically). If you can't track everything perfectly, you definitely need to track fat grams so that you keep each meal in the target range or you will get TEs. If you can't commit the time to track, it might not be the best time to take alli. If your meals are typically low fat though, I'm sure you won't have a problem. Just try to cut down a little and track as much as possible (just be more aware if anything). You will be fine, and as long as you stick to the plan, TE are not something to worry about. We all know how you feel. Good luck!

    Re: College Students??

I register tomorrow for classes next semester... Just one more semester of physics.. I HATE physics!!
I think I might hate it more than I hated organic chemistry... and that's quite shocking. hahaha

I do love neurobio though - that will be fun :)

    What about youu?/

Hey everyone! How's everyone's week been. I registered for classes today as well. Genetics is my only science this semester...yay! I'm getting close to the end.

    powersec5:
Just one more semester of physics.. I HATE physics!!

I hated physics too. I took the second one over the summer so I wouldn't  have to suffer through a whole semester. Good luck to you! I feel your pain.

I'm nervous about finals as well. I don't do so well under pressure. I had a really rough weekend diet wise. A friend was in town so I just kinda blew it out. I was good for all of about an hour on thursday when she got there before I gave into the "Come on, it's a 5$ cab ride, you can drink!" and the "Let's share desert" Needless to say, I opted out of taking the alli or I wouldv'e been quite ill all weekend. I started back again on Monday though and I'm going to be very good this week, especially since I gained a pound so I really need to work in the right direction.

Well I should go study for my physiology test in 6 hours. This is a very bad way to procrastinate. Good luck this week to everyone!

    Re: College Students??

I kinda blew it this past weekend too.. It was my anniversary weekend and we went out to dinner Friday and Saturday nights. Friday I did pretty well ordering (minus the soda), but Saturday... not so much. Luckily I'm wicked picky and I didn't even like it that much. hahah
So that combined with skipping out on the gym 3 days in a row = no weight loss the whole time.

I'd lost a pound before the weekend, so that was my total for this weigh-in. I guess it's not the end of the world, and gaining a pound isn't horrible either as long as we get back on the horse ;)

PS. I'm taking genetics and physiology right now! yaaay fun :P

    Re: College Students??

Hey everyone, mind if i join you?? I too am a college student and i completely understand. I no longer live on campus, but i commute to work and then to school, and have no time for anything! In fact i still havent figured out when to get my exercise in (i started again on the 12th). I know i need to crack down and just do it, but its easier said than done.

Little about me : I'm 25 and a super senior in Wisconsin. I graduate after this semester with a degree in English. I'm actually hoping to study abroad in Nicaragua this January before i'm done (still waiting on the answer). I'm not completely sure what i'll be doing with my degree when i'm done but i tend to fly by the seat of my pants. I've also been at my job as a bank teller for the past 6 years, so im ok with not being sure. As far as my weight goes ... i dont remember what its like to be skinny. I plumped up between 2nd and 3rd grades (partially because of steroid meds and partially because of my horrible diet ... bad combo) and have basically looked the same since. I'm actually surprisingly comfortable with my body and myself, and i'm doing this more for health reasons. (that and it would be nice to find pants that fit properly, cuz not only am i overweight but i'm short)

I'm hoping to be able to give and receive some support here. I dont have many people around me willing to support my efforts, so its nice to know we're all on the same journey with similar struggles.

    Re: College Students??

     Hey everyone...

am Jessie. I'm a sophomore in Nursing. I think college is the most challenging thingy ever when it comes to dieting. I also work in the school cafeteria..just watching all those student stuff themselves gives me the urge to do so too...but then I remember the TE's and stay put.  LOL!  Am looking forward to lose close to 35 lbs. currently i weighed 170 then i started Alli and with vigourous work out at the school's gym( for 30 mins 4-5 times weekly)..i now weigh 165lbs after 9 days...Woot! Woot!

It's coming off..and guess what?! I have more self confidence in myself, my clothes feel lose again..slowly but SURELY I shall weigh 135 lbs... :)

Luck to y'all, it's not easy but it pays off!

    Re: College Students??

Hello fellow students!  I am a second year doctoral student in Adult & Post-Secondary education.  Today is my first day on Alli.  My CW is 213 with my first GW 193 and then I will set another goal.  I think that overall I need to loose 40 pounds to be healthy and 55 or so to be lean, but I have never been really lean so 170ish is a goal that my doctor and I both felt amazing about so I decided to break it into 2 groups... something unique about myself????  I use my undergraduate major (English Literature) as an excuse to read books like the Twilight Saga, His Dark Materials, and Harry Potter when really I just enjoy them :-)

Hope everyone is having a great Monday!

    Goal: 20 pounds by Christmas!

    Re: College Students??

    Hi all!

What year are you in school? My 4th class so far, out of 32 credits.
What's your major? I am getting a certificate as a Paralegal
How long have you been on Alli? I will start the pill in 4 more days.
What is your goal? Loosing 10% of my weight will make me happy, but my goal is to be in the 'normal' BMI, so a total of about 35 pounds.
And for fun, tell us something unique about yourself.

I have survived Stage 4 cancer and am trying to rebuild my life.  I have just been diagnosed with sleep apnea so I have a sleep study scheduled in November.  I am taking classes slowly as my mind cannot handle all that knowledge without exploding, so I feel for all of us.

My eating schedule is irratic because I just don't get hungry sometimes and forget to eat. Yep, starvation mode. Ug.

When I do eat, I am WWWWAAAAAAYYYYYYYYY over the cals or fat for the day.

This semester I have night classes, so my day (I don't work) is spent hanging around the house or out with friends, mostly in the house.  I have started Tai Chi Chung, the other class I have this semester, and love it.  So far this is very hard for me so I will just do this for my workout until I can handle more.

My Tuesday class starts at 6 so to beat traffic I get there soon after 5 and grab food in the cafe. On Thursday my class is Tai Chi and starts at 5 so I usually forget to eat before and am starving after, also dehydrated probably.

One would think the Tai Chi would be relaxing, but for me it is a workout. I relax by crocheting.  I am also learning how to sew. I figure I will learn to take in my clothes to keep from having to buy all new clothes as I loose mass. I gotta get serious about learning more about my sewing machine and get better at sewing soon.

My plan for dealing with any TEs is to purchase a box of depends. It is not sexy but I don't think the TEs are either! ;-)

    Bright Blessings!
