    anyone like me

I follow the diet guidelines almost religiously. Have been on it since June and twice have eaten too much fat and calories. For me that is a great accomplishment. Because for a change I didn’t quit I just forgave myself and went back on my diet.  I am losing weight but sometimes I lose nothing and then I weigh and have lost 2 or 3 lbs. I have health issues and don’t exercise like I should and suffer from heel spurs, systemic lupus erythematosus
and osteoarthritis.  I don’t know why anyone else like me. Sheryl

    Hi Sheryl,

I have been on Alli for about a week.  I fell off the plan already, but got right back on.  The pressure of others is what gets to me..."you can go off for just this once", they say.  I still feel good though.  I have lost 40 pounds on my own without alli but have more than 60 more to go.  I found that i would lose weight in spurts as well.  2 or 3 pounds then nothing.  I wouldn't worry about that as long as it is still coming off.  Exercise for me is hard too.  I have a condition called syringomyelia, which is a terrible spinal condition.  I have to just do what I can when I am feeling well enough.  I would encourage you to do the same.  Do what you can when you can.  I keep in mind that I am not the only one, and now you know that you are not the only one, too.  Heather

    Hi Sheryl

Good for you for hanging in there!  I am a slow loser too, and I also have some health restrictions that get in the way.  I have rheumatoid arthritis and it makes it difficult to exercise because of fatigue and pain.  I just focus on what I can do and try not to let myself get down about what I can't do.  You're working hard, making effort, and moving in the right direction.  Try not to let your thoughts go to anything discouraging, because it will rob you of all of your hard work and everything that you should be proud of.

    Keep up the good work,

    Teresa

     Hello Sheryl,

Good for you -- you have stuck with this plan for 6 months and you are making progress. So what that the weight comes off slow. At least it is coming off. Everyone wants immediate gratification, but you are doing this the healthy, right way. Health issues could be obstacles for you, but you are not letting that stop you. Most people allow obstacles to defeat them, but not you. This isn't just a diet you are on, it's a new lifestyle that takes care of you. Keep up the good work!  Carly

Sherylh, you are not alone.  I am recovering from hip replacement surgery. I have barretts esophegus.  I also have osteo arthritis in my other hip and in my spine.  I am having to learn how to walk with my new joint.  Right now I am still using a walker to walk up and down my driveway.  I just started the alli plan and am hoping for positive results.  I have always been a slow loser.  But I am going to keep trying and hopefully save my other joints from wear and tear. Sheryl

I have been on the plan for some time. I have had 2 spurts where I went off the plan for a long term. I have lost 46 pounds, though. I have lupus and have found it difficult to exercise as well. A lot of the time I try to press myself just a little bit. The reason being is that with our disease we are going to hurt regardless of what we do. So I figure if I can do a little bit of exercise and not feel a lot more pain then that is better than doing none and maintaining the same amount of pain. I have found that when I do a little bit of exercise I feel better emotionally, mentally, and physically and that makes me feel better about myself. The pain for me is continuous no matter how much or how little I do. I am not certain if that is the same in your case, though.

I pray you are able to continue loosing in a healthy way.

    Barbie,

Thanks for all you had to say it really does help.I have fibromyalgia as well as lupus I am 50 feel like I am 70 it's Iike I have the flu all the time my skin hurts and so tired. I am having a hard time but I keep trying and praying every night to be positive. I am struggling to make ends meet I will not be able to buy Alli when I run out I hope I don't fail with out it and have not been able to work in about a year or so. I don't know how I will make it another year but some how I will. I am fighting with social security disability and they tell me I may get a hearing date in January 2009 if I live that long been fighting with them since 2006. I let all the stress my health and depression make me obese. I am now trying to get me back and continue to fight for what is mine and I worked so hard for my whole life. I feel all this helped me to end up extremely obese. Now I need to get my life back so I can be the best I can be. PRAY FOR ME ALLI FAMILY !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Wishing every one a Happy New Year

    God Bless us all,  Sheryl

    Re: anyone like me

Hi everyone!  I just started alli today!  I need to stick with it.  I have health problems too but am able to do a walking DVD program that a friend reccomended.  It has a one, two and three mile program.  I started out gasping for breath doing the one mile and now can do the three!  I need to loose the weight because of a long long history of heart disease in my family.  I really could use the support.  I need to do my exercising at least 4 x per week.  That is not always easy for me.  Any support is appreciated!

    Re: anyone like me

    Hi Rosie:

I am glad to hear that you can now walk up to 3 miles. I have just started a walking program and can barely get through 1. My weigh has been out of control for the past 5 years and I am hoping that Alli can help. I have not started taking the pills yet (am scheduled to start on Sat. 1/05). Any info you can give me as a new user would be appreciated. Good Luck with your progress.
