A month without Ali

    Hi Everyone!

I’ve been away for the past month working extraordinarily long hours, eating at very strange hours and intervals. Because of the workload I just didn’t feel I could take Ali on the regular basis that I needed to.

I decided to see if I could maintain for a month without taking Ali and was absolutely successful in maintaining at 283 lbs. I waffled back and forth about 3 or 4 pounds but all in all, I was able to prove to myself that I can maintain what I have lost.

Now it is time to get serious and continue on! I’ve set mini-goals in increments of 10 pounds.

Let’s keep up the battle against all those BOATLOADs of Fluffininity we all have to lose!

    Re: A month without Ali

Good for you, Taylor! It;s so easy to slide back into those old habits. You should feel proud that you were able to eat wisely! I, too, have had an unusual month. I really overloaded my schedule, none of which I could pull out of.

Now I am gearing up for my son's wedding. My goal was to be at 200 for the wedding. If I can get my act together, I may be able to lose the 6 pounds in the next 2 weeks. If not, (I have out-of-state company coming 5 days early), I will be proud of the almost 40 pounds I have lost!

Not being able to get to the gym has been the biggest problem for me. My weight has actually gone done a few pounds which amazes me. Once the wedding is over, I will be able to get back on schedule with my eating. Then when my graduate program is over and my grandchild is born, all in December, and the holidays are past, I can take a deep breath and concentrate more on exercise and getting healthy.

    Hi Taylor,

Welcome back! It's a great relief to know that you are able to maintain your weight, isn't it? Regaining your weight after all of the work that it takes to lose it can be very devastating. You have the rest of your life to reach your goal so there is nothing wrong with taking "maintenance breaks" along the way. It takes work to maintain your weight so that's why it's called a maintenance break. If anyone doubts that it takes effort to maintain just ask yourself how much can you gain in 2 weeks time.

I wish you lots of success,

    Betty Kovacs, MS, RD

    Re: A month without Ali

Congratulations Taylor for losing 44 pounds and also for maintaining your weight after losing it. I believe that is the key to this program because it is just as important to keep this weight off as it is to lose it. The fact that you could do that shows you that have made those important changes in your life. Hang in there for the long haul. Setting those 10-pound goals is a great idea too. Watch them tick away......

    Re: A month without Ali

I know what you mean about gearing up for the wedding. It's so hard to get into good habits (and keep them) when you're worried about special occasion dinners, and hosting out of town guests, and such. My sister's wedding is this weekend and I'm feeling like I lost all the progress of my last two months. However, i did find a personal trainer through my sister's beautician, through http://www.gatheringguide.com/ec/health_beauty.html, and she says she will help me get back to normal. Keep your fingers crossed!
