    Dry skin

Have been on Alli one month with a 5 pound weight loss.  I have begun to have very dry flaky skin.  Also headaches.  Am I not drinking enough water?  I feel like I am molting.  Otherwise, I am very pleased with the Alli plan.

    Re: Dry skin

    That happened to me too!

The skin on my face just completely dried up! Like I'd gotten a really bad sunburn or something.. only it didn't itch or hurt, really.. it was just dry and flakey and made my skin stiff. It was so bizarre.. I had to put lotion on like 6 times a day. It's finally cleared up, though.. thankfully.

I was thinking the same thing though.. maybe not enough water? But it's not like I was drinking a gallon a day before I was on alli and then I stopped drinking water altogether.. nothing has changed really in that regard.

    Weird.

Oh - yea and I haven't been on alli long, only a couple weeks. 2 or 3 pounds down, though :)

You may need to drink more water, so try having a few extra glasses each day.

I don't know of any connection between Alli and dry skin, but you might post on the Pharmacists board and see what they say.

Please let me know if you need anything else.

    Re: Dry skin

I've encountered the same issue with dry skin. My eye lid, yes...eye lid, has an itchy, fish scale looking dry patch and the only thing that I have changed in my routine, is that I added Alli. Oh, and never in my life have I had dandruff, but I have also started to notice this issue.

I have read other blogs and it does seem like this is more common than the dietitian is aware.

Oh....I just noticed that your post is over a year old - perhaps we can get more info on this now?

Most like this is an issue with water, or lack of fat as I mentioned earlier.  Some people come to the alli Program eating very little fat, but excess calories from other nutrients.  That will contribute to a number of issues including dry skin, constipation and dandruff.

Again, you can post on the Pharmacists Message Board if you'd like more info.
