    eggs

I am on the 1800 cal. plan and 19g of fat per meal.  It looks like I could eat 2 or 3 eggs in the morning if I take an Alli pill, but on the menu plans, I notice that they usually have meals with only one egg or just egg whites and then some other source of fat.  Is this because eggs wouldn't be the healthiest source for my fat?  I was just wondering, because I would prefer to just eat the eggs and not worry about adding anything, but not if it's not going to help me lose weight.

On most days I just eat a fat free breakfast and don't take Alli with that meal.

    Thanks

    Teresa

    Re: eggs

An egg is a good source of fat, and I often like to include one in my breakfast.  However, the reason (I presume) that you don't see breakfasts with 2 or 3 eggs on the Alli menus is because of cholesterol.  I know that on days when I have even a single egg, it's harder to keep my dietary cholesterol under 300mg for the day (the recommendation on the nutrition tracker).  I can do it, but a single egg has ~200mg, so more than one would put you over.

SW: Officially 181, had seen up to 185 though. July 2007 CW: 132 GW: Originally it had been 134, set many years ago when I never thought it was a feasible goal. I've hit that and am floundering a bit trying to get to my new goal of 125 which would be a BMI of 22.

You received the correct answer! The alli meal plans are based on the USDA Dietary Guidelines and the American Heart Association recommendations. Keep the good work! Sylvia Melendez-Klinger, MS, RD, LD, CPT - registered dietitian
