ideas for adding fat and calories

I like to take frozen meals to work for lunch like Lean Cuisine or Healthy choice - was wondering if people had quick and easy thinings I could add to my lunch to reach my target fat and calories (19g fat/meal and 1800 cal./day)  Hoping maybe someone else already does this and could help me out.

    Thanks

You can include a side salad with regular or LF dressing; a whole-grain roll with peanut butter; a few graham crackers and LF milk or yogurt.

Let me know if you need anything else.  For a fast reply to nutrition questions it's best to post on the Dietitians Message Board.

Nuts! :) Walnuts, almonds, peanuts - toss with yogurt, or pretzels. Add a salad or soup and some bread. Grab a protein shake or have milk instead of a soda or something.

Re: ideas for adding fat and calories

Thanks for the responses and ideas.  Today I had a Healthy Choice frozen meal and went up to the salad bar - got a ton of veggies, chicken breast, and fat free dressing and still stayed under my range.  I kind of felt like a pig, because I don't normally eat that much, and I was worried that my co-workers were thinking, "Look at how much that fat girl eats!"  :)

When I was struggling to make my fat grams, I bought some trail mix and premeasured it into snack sized baggies. Each one had I think 180 cal and 9g of fat. The fat was mainly in the nuts, which is a good fat. I keep some in the car too. Hope that helps. Jim

Ohhhh to be able to eat nuts again (sigh)

Great ideas ... gosh we have such a fantastic group of folks here.

I'm already trying to figure out what I can eat (or sip, slurp) after Dec 6 when I get my top back teeth out and still reach my calorie/fat grams!  OH JOY :)

I've been struggling to get my fat in at lunch and dinner so on top of my baby greens with broccoli slaw, I've been putting a sharp flavored cheese to add fat and flavor.  Yesterday I used the Balsamic Spray dressing and blue cheese. It all tasted pretty good together.

I dont worry about it too much, because it seems I go over in fat by a few grams during some of my snacks so I figure its balancing out by the end of the day.

SD: 11/17/07    1800cal/60g fat    Goal: 215lbs by Christmas!

Good for you!  I hope you reach your goal.  I haven't thought about making a goal for Christmas.  I'm just hoping to lose at least a pound a week, but I'd be a lot happier with 2-3!

    Good luck to you!

It's also important to get protein - if you're using this baby greens and broccoli slaw salad for a main dish - so you can add grilled chicken, beef or salmon; or some tofu if you're a vegetarian.  All these will bring up the fat AND the protein!

I definitely do get my protein in or I'd starve! HA HA I sometimes have a veggie burger or tuna or something quick and easy with it.
