Re: I HAD A FULL FAT, DESSERT LADEN THANKSGIVING AND.......

I went to a buffet and really didn't eat a lot of fatty stuff.  Salad, vegetables, one slice of turkey with just a hint of gravy over it and fruit for desert.  I had my weekly weigh in today and still lost two for the week.  I'm happy.

Re: I HAD A FULL FAT, DESSERT LADEN THANKSGIVING AND.......

Can't get the sight of Sher's "carrot cake roll" out of my  mind :-)   I'm glad everyone had a good Thanksgiving, and if you over-ate a little, just get right back on the Alli-horse :-)

Thanksgiving is an American celebratiom--though I think the Canadians also have a Thanksgiving?  As y'all know, I'm an Aussie, so I don't DO the turkey plus trimmings thing; however, I'd have no trouble downing the carrot cake roll!!!!!!

BUT . . . the Canadian geese come to our valley in the winter time and so I drove up to a nearby wildlife preserve and spent the afternoon with the geese, binoculars in one hand and camera around my neck.

I remember during my years in Kansas I'd see them flying overhead as they mosied south for the winter.  [I also remember thinking "Take me with you . . . please"]   I get a lot of joy out of watching these birds--and hearing them "honking" overhead.

OK - back to the grading!!!!

Re: I HAD A FULL FAT, DESSERT LADEN THANKSGIVING AND.......

i'm a vegatarian, and i'm used to using thanksgiving as a holiday when i stay home, decorate for christmas, have some nice wine and eat mashed potatoes, and relax and enjoy myself, and i've always been very thankful for the solitude.

this year, i opened a brunello di montalcino, and made garlic sweet potato mash, and a few baby blue potatoes mashed. i used a bit of real butter, and ate more than my fair share. I know it's odd to have mashed potatoes for dinner, and it wasn't smart for my nutrition log, but it's my one big treat. I avoided eating anything else just so i could eat a lot of it.

27 hrs later and no treatment effects, so I think i made the right choice

Re: I HAD A FULL FAT, DESSERT LADEN THANKSGIVING AND.......

I took my Alli with dinner and dessert with no TE's.  I had a little bit of everything.  I've only been on the plan for two weeks.  I was expecting TE's because I wasn't careful in what I ate.  Am I doing something wrong? (or should I say right) .  I am gald you wrote this post.  I helped me to realize it is ok to eat fattening meals on special occasions.

this is one or two (or three or ten) days out of the year, and we're in this for life.

Amen to that!!!  If we're going to make this for life, we have to be able to indulge every now and then but then get back to our healthy choices.  ("every now and then" just can't be a weekly thing!!!)

Here's to getting right back on the horse!  :)

We have Canada Geese here year round and I've even had them in my backyard eating cracked corn and bread crust. Are you a "birder", Ann?

I don't know if the term "birder" fits me, but I DO love the geese :-)  What part of the country do you live in?

Re: I HAD A FULL FAT, DESSERT LADEN THANKSGIVING AND.......

    Hi Everyone,

I think that each one of you had a successful holiday. The fact that you are all on here posting how your Thanksgiving went is a huge success! There are no "good" or "bad" food choices. I see that as too judgmental and being judged never helped anyone as far as I know. Instead of judging, ask yourself how many years you overindulged during Thanksgiving and how you did in comparison this year. If you were able to eat 10% less food this year wouldn't that be successful? For those of you who chose to indulge without the guilt, how many times were you able to do that when dieting in the past?  I encourage you all to change from the all or nothing thinking to something in between.

Congratulations to every one of you!

Re: I HAD A FULL FAT, DESSERT LADEN THANKSGIVING AND.......

Well, I'm sort of in shock.  With Thankgiving I stayed the same.  I wasn't too bad but I did allow myself to eat (with moderation) my favorites (turkey, stuffing, cranberry, and a little piece of pecan pie). I didn't really exercise from Wednesday to Saturday so I guess I'm lucky.... very lucky.  I hope it won't come back this week (gain).  The holiday is over and now it's back to the plan with NO deviation!!!!!  I want to be down 10 more lbss by Christmas.
