    Calories and Fat Grams

I have been setting up my meal plan for next week Dec 30. My have a few questions

    1- I have a hard time doing 1800 cal a day I usually can manage 1200 to 1500.  I weigh 156 is it necessary to do 1800 a day?

2- According to My Alli  I should have no more that 19 grams of fat a day. the plan show 12 for breakfast, 18 for lunch, 3 for each snack and 18 for dinner. Is this correct?  I usually stay at 17 to 22 a day. I am trying for less.

    Thanks  Diane  DMHelmer

    Re: Calories and Fat Grams

WOW 1800 calories per day for someone weighing only 156 seems excessive.  You may want to reread your program again - you state no more than 19 grams of fat a day but then you say the plan shows 12 for breakfast, 18 for lunch and 18 for dinner - when I went to school that adds up to way more than 19 !!!   So I think your 1800 calories is wrong :)

     Sher:

She is misreading the instructions. The fat gram level for 1800 calories is 60g of fat per day.

Please read the top two posts on this board of the importance of reaching your calorie and fat gram goals for the day. Following these instructions has proven to be very valuable to many of us, including me. I realize some of it may sound counter-intuitive, but try it. It really does work.

Best of success to you in reaching your fat loss goals,

    Jim

    Re: Calories and Fat Grams

It is important to reach your recommended calorie and fat grams provided in the alli plan.  1200 calories is usually very little food and may actually work against you by slowing your metabolism.  Try to read all the booklets provided in your alli starter kit, they provide essential information to get you started successfully in your weight loss journey.

The 1,800 calories sound a bit high, however it sounds like you've already lowered them.  It's OK to drop your calories and fat, one or two levels but I don't recommend 1,200 calories.  It's also a better idea to try to keep your intake more consistent each day.

The amount of fat grams per meal for 1,400 calories should be around 14; and around 17 for 1,600 calories per meal.  Take a look at the Healthy Eating Guide, and the Companion Guide included in the Starter Kit for some great information about setting and sticking to your calorie and fat levels.

    Re: Calories and Fat Grams

I'm having the same problem with the setting up of my meal plan.  According to the book, phase 1 should limit fat intake to 15% (27 grams).  Yet, when I went to set up the meal plan for the week, it shows the following:

Meals for the week of Dec 23, 2007

Your meal plan is based on 1800 calories per day. Recipes frequently include side dishes and/or beverages. Your complete meals are based on the following approximate calorie and fat gram counts:

    Approximate
    Calories/Fat (g)
    Breakfast 400 / 12
    Lunch 600 / 18
    Snack #1 100 / 3
    Dinner 600 / 18
    Snack #2 100 / 3

Also, when I choose the hard boiled egg with toast for breakfast - the fat grams for that meal is 14 grams.  The information at the top of the meal plan seems to be incorrect -- at least for phase 1 anyway.  Can you explain?

Yes, I can explain and I'm sorry for the confusion.  The book takes a slightly different approach.  It has people eat a low-fat diet for several days to see if this is a style they can live with, and it "phases" people into the Program.

The Starter Kit - and registering online - gets you going right away.  Now that you have your recommendations, the kit and the capsules, I say "Go for it!"
