    Re: Weight Scale

I used to get very frustrated when trying to lose weight because my scale would fluctuate from one minute to other (sometimes up to 3 or 4 pounds!).  For me (and probably most people) success is motivation so I invested in a doctor's scale like the one at the doctor's office.  It cost about $100 but it's forever and now I know my weight is accurate - to me it was worth every penny.

    Re: Weight Scale

Personally, I like digital scales, and I bought an inexpensive Taylor which works fine. But if you go digital, it's important not to obsess over tenths of a pound. And even if you're not an Amazon shopper, you can go there and read hundreds of consumer reviews on different scales.

It's possible that your clothes fit differently, even though the scale does not reflect it.  The scale may be off; you body may be redistributing fat and fluids if you've been doing more physical activity, etc.

In any event, Tanita is a brand of digital scales that is highly regarded among health professionals.  They have models that do everything from just weight to BMI, body fat and water content, etc. www.tanita.com

Whatever scale you decide on be sure to use ONLY that scale; in the same spot; at the same time; with approximately the same amount of clothes (or not) each time you weigh.  I'm not a fan of daily weight-ins and recommend once or twice a week.

Scales can drive you nuts.  That's why I recommend the items above.  It's also important to test them frequently to be sure they're at "zero."  If you have to weigh-in on another scale for a physical, I suggest you get on backwards and ask them NOT to tell you the number.  Chances are it will differ from your scale and that will drive you crazy all over again.

    I hope this helps.
