    Sushi - help!

     Anyone know where I can find the information on calories and fat grams on Sushi?  My supermarket sells fresh Sushi daily and it is one of my downfalls.  I want to see if I am able to eat it or if I am going to have to forego it all together.

    Thanks

    It's not Publix by chance is it? I was wondering about their sushi too. They're usually pretty helpful, so if you ask the manager they can get it for you. Gotta love Publix! I was going to askt he mgr about the california rolls, since that's all I eat. I was thinking they would be a great way to get some avocado into my meals, and one tray will last me two-three meals if combined with something else. If I find out anything, I'll lyk! :)

    Re: Sushi - help!

    Per "The Calorie King"... Sushi Maki rolls..average all types (california roll, cream cheese with crab,eel, salmon, etc.)

    small (11/8dam,11/8high)= 25 calories , .5 fat

    medium =1.6oz = 50 cal. 1 fat

    large = 2oz = 60 cal, 1.5 fat

    Sushi packs: average all 6 large pieces = 370cal 5 fat

    9 medium piece pack = 360 cal 6 fat

    12 small piece pack = 265 cal 3 fat

    futomaki (thick roll) - 6 pieces = 380 cal. 5 fat

    Hand roll 4 oz = 120 cal 2 fat

    sushi nigiri ( fish on rice)= average all , 1 piece = 70 cal, .5 fat

    sushi plate (assort 6 piece) 420 cal 3 fat....

    You get the picture... its very good for you! ( there is no way I would live without it!)

    good luck - NC

    Sushi isn't really relevant to this, since it's so good for you (just watch your sodium with the soy sauce!), but it's really important to remember that Alli isn't about abandoning the foods you love, but finding a way to incorporate them into a healthier lifestyle.  Eating half a roll and pairing it with a kelp salad and soup is a great way to cut back on potential fat in sushi (from avocado, cream cheese, and fatty fish).  "Forbiddens" usually lead to failure.  Don't deprive yourself!

    Good luck!!

    Re: Sushi - help!

    I love the fresh sushi I get from Kroger (I wonder if it's similar to Publix?) and I agree- it's frustrating to not know exactly what's in it.  I love the California Rolls and they've got another pack that I like to get that is just like the California Rolls only all split up into individual tiny rolls (one with carrots, one with cucumber, one with avacado, etc.) and I love that one best because it feels like I'm eating a LOT.  It's called "Healthy"-something but as I've learned, labels can be deceiving!

     I figure in the end, it's got to be better than a McDonald's Big Mac, anyway.
