Re: Help Me with Breakfast please?

ok, maybe it is time for me to try them. I've had the egg beaters before and liked them, but for some reason I get a little squirmish. Not sure why. And i even liked them before. Maybe it's because they really aren't eggs. Are they? Anyhoo I'll give em a go.

    Thanks

Re: Help Me with Breakfast please?

If you truly would like to eat cereal, there are lactose free options..... Lactaid milk, soy milk, rice milk, almond breeze milk  &  you could always mix your cereal with non-fat yogurt(my child is lactose intolerant) as long as the yogurt has live cultures it should agree with you.

Re: Help Me with Breakfast please?

I love Jimmy Dean's turkey sausage patties.  To me, they taste like regular sausage, but with a lot less fat!  I tend to eat one for my protein serving in the morning along with some cottage cheese or fruit.  Of course, the cottage cheese might not be an option for you, but I've seen lots of great other ideas on here!

Re: Help Me with Breakfast please?

I feel your pain regarding breakfast, and because it can be a chore to make I also sympathize. I don't know if this will be much help, but this is what I do. I buy a carton of egg white product like egg beaters or some such, and fat-free cheese and quickly scramble the eggs and throw the cheese on top. There are also directions to nuke them which takes less than a minute. Sometimes I also buy low-fat ham or canadian bacon and heat it up as well. It only takes a few minutes and it's filling. BecauseI have found that I have to stay away from carbs during the day time in order to curb evening snacking, eating only protein all day is essential for me.

This may not sound good, but I love it!

1 cup of plain yogurt (strained overnight, has the consistancy of soft cream cheese)

1 cup pineapple chunks, canned in its own juice

1 cup rolled old fashioned oats, dry.

Mix together the yogurt and pineapple with a packet of Splenda. Sprinkle dry oats over the top, and stir in to the yogurt mixture. It is very filling, with only 325 calories and 5.5 grams of fat.

Re: Help Me with Breakfast please?

I'm also lactose intolerant, and a very picky eater. Pretty much the only things I eat for breakfast is cereal, waffles and fruit. But lactaid (the lactose free milk) is delicious. Even the fat free one, it tastes much better then skim milk in my opinion. I'm not a fan of Soy milk but I know that's always a lactose free option. Cereal and fruit works best for me, I hardly have time to shower lately, never the less cook.

I can never figure out a protein for the mornings though. I don't eat eggs or pork ( though I'm sure that's not very healthy anyway), so I end up with only breads and fruits.

Re: Help Me with Breakfast please?

Peanut butter is a great protein.  1 tablespoon spread on bread works pretty well for me.  I saw some one else mention pb and banana sandwiches.  Those are very good and banana and pb just seem to go together well.

    Re: More information on bananas??

yes! thank you! I share the same feelings on bananas. I love bananas and have one or two a day but how many calories are they really? I've tried looking on the internet in different places but again I get mixed results usually between 72 and 180 but I agree if its that many I might as well eat a Luna bar(energy bar) which is more filling. Someone please inform us!

Slim-fast has 220 calories and 3g of fat. I drink two each day, if not just one for breakfast.

Re: Help Me with Breakfast please?

Hi there - try 1 tbs. low fat peanut butter on WASA rye or whole wheat bread (actually more like a large cracker).   1 cp. mixed tropical fruit or fruit cocktail in own juice is good.  Oatmeal is a great breakfast food (I buy the packages in the box, but am thinking of buying the Quaker Oats and cooking it for myself for a trial).

Whole grain bread toasted with the low fat peanut butter and/or fat free jelly is a good start in the a.m.

If you are lactose intolerant I assume you cannot have yogurt, cottage cheese, etc., however, there are products of "lactose free" yogurt, cottage cheese and milks.  If you get the yogurt, try putting a mix of cheerios, dried cranberries, raisins, and dry oatmeal in it as a grainola.  I mix up a bowl of this and add cinnamon powder to it.

Eggs are good choices and I use Eggbeaters. Mostly whites.

Isn't this fun???   Keep smiling, hang in there!!!   Trudi-bee
