    im done ...

ive got a few questions ... ive have now completed all 16 steps in the online program .... and i have noticed i have not lost any weight in the last couple weeks , i did read some where alli is really only effective in the first 6 months ,.. my just started my 5th month on 1 jan ... is the reason why im not losing anymore weight , bc my body is building a tolerance to alli?  i also ask bc i noticed about 3 or 4 nights ago ... i let a friend cook and serve me dinner... counted cals and fat. he ment well but i found out the next day the postions were alittle off and i ended up having 24 g fat... oops  but to my surprise i had no treatment effects from this ...

if this is the case i wont be getting anymore , but i have to say i didnt cheat ... ( quite proud accually) , i still have my food journal , i have also lost about 55 pounds, ima  size 14 now . i think the last time that happened ... i was like 8.  for the first time in a long time i am under 200... just barely .. but under none the less. ive been working on my weight for 3 years now, lost a total for 140 lbs ... and only by taking alli, i have learned to look at food and eating in a whole new way. i will never go back to not reading labels.  and all of my meals can be put together in 10 mintues or less ... its great.

but anyways there is a question in there somehwere ... and i thank you for answering that question....

    Re: im done ...

    Hi Nikki,

Congratulations, you ave done a wonderful job!  You have taken control of your weight and eating and understand what you put into your bodys does count, plus you have lost 55 pounds i 5 months!

    Now for your question.

    1) Alli is most effective for about 6 months, then the weight loss will slow down.  Our bodies like to hold on to the calories we eat and adapt quite easily to a change in diet, caloric intake and an exercise routine.  If you still need to reach your target weight, alli will continue working but it will take longer, possibly 1/2-1 pound per week rather than 1-2 pounds.

2)Your Gi tract adjust to the effects of alli, so that you can become more tolerant of higher fat.  It is not that alli is not blocking the same amount of fat, but your GI tract can handle the extra. But do note that a treatment effect can occur upto 72 hours after a high fat meal.

    Continued success.  Hope this helps.

    Re: im done ...

     Hello Sophia,

I too am finishing up and am making it to my goal weight.  I know that once you stop taking alli you can gain some weight back, correct?  Also, if I do stop taking alli should I slowly stop taking it or quit cold turkey?  It's not expected that I'd take it forever, right?!

    Thanks!

    Andrea

    Re: im done ...

     Hi Andrea,

First congratulations on reaching your goal!

You do not need to expect to gain any of the weight back.  As long as you maintain the healthy eating habits and keep on exercising. Alli was creating an additional caloric deficit to facilitate weight loss but You were still doing most of the work.

Alli can be discontinued instantly with no effect.  Since it is minimally absorbed is leaves your system rather quickly, and being that it has no systemic effects you there is no withdrawal.

    Best of luck,
