Well here it goes, I am ready!

I am ready to get healthy and start my journey with alli.  I am nervous, but I know it is something that I need to do for my well being.  But I am also nervous because of the TE's that I have been ready about.  I am currently at 239 and am going to focus on losing 5% of my body weight at a time.  I am also going to focus on eating more fruits and veggies (ready made and handy) and exercise for 20 min. at least 3-4 days a week.  Does anyone have any other suggestions, or comments.

    Thanks!

Re: Well here it goes, I am ready!

    Hi merk,

I've been using Alli for 4 months and to date I've lost 31 pounds.  I started at 200 pounds and now weight 169.  It really is easy if you set you MIND to it.

    My daily meals consist of:

Breakfast:  toasted english muffin and small glass juice

Mid-morning snack:  fruit or 100 calorie snack pack (there are many to choose from)

Lunch:  Usually 1/2 sandwich (because my philosphy on that is "what has less calories than a sandwich?  Answer: 1/2 sandwich") lol.....and if still hungry-generally a yogurt

Mid-afternoon snack:  fruit or 100 calorie snack pack

Supper:   ANYTHING I would normally prepare for my family, except instead of eating it on a dinner plate, I eat mine on a saucer.  (Remember, your stomach is only as big as your fist)

Nite time Snack:  That's my worst time of day.....generally reach for pretzels

    And............water.....water.....water!!

There are a variety of snacks out there that are "safe" to eat, just read the label.  I like snackwell cookies----yum  and if you like ice cream sandwiches, here's a tip:  get chocolate graham crackers and lite cool whip.  Spread on crackers and freeze (just as good as any ice cream sandwich I've ever eaten)

If you are a female, I also would suggest wearing a pad (yuck, I know) but it is an important safeguard against what you "think" might be gas......actually it's oil

     Best of luck to you!!

Thanks for letting me share my thoughts with you......Alli works but you have to work too

Re: Well here it goes, I am ready!

I started alli yesterday and haven't had any TE as of yet (knock on wood). I've been able to keep my meals relatively low-fat so I haven't had any problems. I do notice I am urinating more...is that normal?

I am doing Weight Watchers as well as alli and hoping to drop this weight this time for good. I lost 60 lbs 1 1/2 yrs ago, but have stayed the same ever since and I still have about 40-50 to go. I'm not sure what a good weight for my body is (I guess I need to research that).

I haven't changed what I eat with alli, I'm just sticking to my WW plan and taking the alli with it. I usually eat...

Breakfast - WW yogurt with 2 tsp. grape nuts cereal in it

Lunch - A progresso WW 0 points can of soup with a sandwich using the WW bread and the Deli selects turkey.

Dinner - Whatever my family is having, just a smaller portion.

Snacks - I either have a 100 calorie pack of something or some wheat thin crackers.

    Hope this helps.

    Carrie

Re: Well here it goes, I am ready!

Sounds like your all off to a great start !!!   What about exercise ???  Even walking up/down the stairs is considered exercise (trust me - that's all I did this week-end hahaha)

Carrie - you say for lunch you have a can of progresso soup and a sandwich with turkey - is that giving you the amount of fat grams you need?

Make sure you all read the first 2 posts on the personal experience board that Betty Kovacs wrote for us regarding meeting our calorie count for the day and the other one relates to meeting our fat gram count for the day - these are both VERY important and very essential for Alli to work correctly.

    GOOD LUCK

Re: Well here it goes, I am ready!

Thank you for you response, and congrats on your loss.  I start my food changes tomorrow and my alli on Sat.  I have seen a lot of the 100 calorie snacks, I will try them.  And the ice cream sandwiches sound GREAT!

thanks about the pad heads up, I was thinking about a panty liner.

Check out discoveryhealth.com If you join up with the national body challenge you can get a two month pass to Bally's if there is one near you! I signed up for it and I think there is only one facility in my town.

    Exercise is important! :)
