    Re: Military Members

Hi, I'm in the Air Force and my main focus right now is PT. I do ok now but I know if I lost the weight my waist size would go down which in turn makes it easier to do crunches, push ups and run, it also adds points. I've been on Alli since July 29th and have not lost a pound, only gained 3lbs. This does not help especiaslly with PT test coming up, I feel as though my waist is larger and tha's not a good thing. I'm really sticking to the program and running or walking everyday, I must say I'm a little discouraged, but will do my best to stick with it.

    I am highly favored !

    Hi Favored13,

I just responded to your other post about not losing any weight so take a look at that. I am curious what your height and weight is. This plan will not help someone who needs to lose a couple of inches on their waist. This is for someone who is considered overweight or obese so if you do not fall into either one of those categories that may be why you are not seeing any results. You can post your height and weight if you would like me to determine what your BMI is.

    Re: Military Members

I hi I am glad to hear there are sailors and soldiers taking Alli. I was a sailor for 4 years (BM). I loved it and I miss it. But I still have my connection because my husband is enlisted (OS2). I never had a problem with my weight. I just didn’t appreciate the weight that I was at the time. Well now I have been out for over a year and I have gained a lot of weight. I am 160 pounds and I would love to be 135-145 again. So I have started taking alli. Hopefully I will reach my goal weight soon. Be blessed all!!

     Dr.

So are you saying that if you are not overweight Alli will not work for you. Please explain. I am 5,6 and I weigh 160. I have been on Alli for a week I am working out everyday and watching what I eat. How will that effect me? Does it slow my weightloss down or should I not even take Alli?

    Re: Military Members

    Hi AlliNow08,

Alli is FDA approved for someone who is overweight or obese. When your weight is within the healthy guidelines this may not work for you because you may actually not need to lose any weight. Someone who is very active and fit could have a lot of muscle and weigh more because of that. Losing weight could cost you some of that muscle. When you do have a few pounds to lose the recommendation is to focus on diet and exercise first. When that does not work you need to rule out any medical reasons for this. There are medications that can interfere with weight loss and medical conditions that could do so as well. When these have been ruled out your doctor can determine if a weight loss medication would be necessary. This is really about following the guidelines and finding the appropriate option for you.

    Does that make sense?
