Lost 30 pounds in 7 months but now gaining!

I am so happy with alli.  I have never been healthier, and I have never had so much energy.  I have lost 30 pounds since I started in the summer.  However, I have not lost any wt in the past 4 weeks (a whole month)!  I even gained 2 pounds.  I know the holidays was one problem, but I still haven't lost in the weeks after the holidays.  I noticed my calorie intake changed recently from 1800 to 1600, and I have had trouble getting down to the 1600 calories.  I am still exercising 6 to 8 hours a week, but I wonder if i need to add more exercise since I have stopped losing wt.  What are your thoughts on what is causing the wt plateau/gain?

This is the same thing that is happening to me....30 pounds and now no losses for a while. I think the holiday eating has something to do with it and also for me, it feels like me body has to get used to being at this weight for a while. It's been 10 yrs since i've been this weight (167). I do feel very healthy and my clothes fit so much better. I'm going to give it a little bit more time and not stress too much because i realize i'm in it for the long haul. I think changing up the exercise routine might help...muscles have memory and need to be challenged in different ways to really make a difference. good luck to you! 30 lbs is a big accomplishment!! It's not that unusual after 30 pounds.  You're doing great at the amount of exercise you're doing and this is the time to stay focused and be patient.  I realize that's easier said than done.

You've done a great job so far and I understand it's frustrating.  Try to be patient.  Here's a few suggestions.

    • take a look at the sample menus for 1,600 calories and try to eat similar types and amounts of food; and to distribute the calories and fat in a similar way.  That might make it easier for you to make the transition from 1,800 to 1,600.
    • I'd suggest you bump up the intensity - not necessarily the amount of time - of the exercise.  Sometimes that will jumpstart weight loss again.
    • keep in mind that the closer you get to goal weight the slower the loss; that's the body's way of handling it.

    I hope this helps.
