    No Gallbladder

I purchased Alli and opened the bottled.  As I opened the bottle I read the outside of teh back which said to see a doctor if you've had gallbladder problems before taking.  Is it okay to use orlistat if your gallbladder has been removed?  I sure hope so, I can't get the $69.99 back.

    Re: No Gallbladder

Well, I didn't even see that on the back. And I don't have a gallbladder, lol. But, I have been taking Alli for 1 1/2 days now and have had no problem. I had my gallbladder taken out about 4 years ago. Just to be on the safe side, if your worried, you could ask your doctor.

    Re: No Gallbladder

it depends on why you had your gallbladder out mine was removed 3-4 yrs ago and ive been on these over a week now did ask the nurse and she said as i had the stronger xenical on perscription before it was okay as these were milder than them

i had my gallbladder removed because of undiagnosed gall stomes which grew to the size of maltezers and there was 15 of them and  i was very ill hence the removal of the gallbladder

but in evey case its diffren so ask your local gp or nurse they will tell ya

    Re: No Gallbladder

I had mine removed two years ago.  I'd stayed up all night with pain that moved from my back to my stomach and vice versa and vomiting.  My doctor said I had 12 gallstones and I had it removed.  I am waiting to hear back from the nurse.  I left a message yesterday and called back this morning.  Anyway, are you losing any weight w/o the gall badder beingon Alli?  I took my first pill with breakfast this morning.

    Re: No Gallbladder

    Hi leslie53022,

As stated on the package you need to check with the doctor prior to taking alli if you have had gall bladder problems.  Rapid weight loss may increase the risk of developing stones.  If your gallbladder has been removed there may be a problem absorbing food and you would like to get the go ahead from your personal physician.

    Hope this helps.

    Re: No Gallbladder

I have only been on Alli 2 days. Not enough time to see if I've lost weight. I'm going to try to only weigh myself once a week. But I don't think having my gallbladder out will make me lose more or less weight that if I didn't have it out at all.

    Re: No Gallbladder

Well.......I started Alli on Monday (1/14/08) and I don't have a gallbladder.  I even lost .5 pound.  I checked with my doctor and a nurse called me back and said she wasn't sure but to go ahead and if I notice any change in how I feel to come in.  I've not had normal bm since my son was born 6 years ago.  I use laxatives to go.  Hopefully this will regulate me-lol
