anyone having a problem with eating lean beef?

No matter how lean it is I just can't seem to eat beef without having those awful treatment effects.  I have done more damn fish and chicken and turkey but maybe once a week I would like a hamburger for a change.

Anyone else having trouble with this too?

Re: anyone having a problem with eating lean beef?

I just started Alli on Friday, so I may be speaking a bit too soon. But the same day that I started Alli I had a 6 oz steak...and no treatment effects so far. I don't know if the meat was lean or not beause I got it from a restaurant and didn't bother asking the waiter. But I did try trimming the fat off of the meat. Since I was so nervous about TE's I didn't put any dressing on my salad, and drank strictly water, allowing the steak to account for all of the fat in my meal.

Don't give up on beef just yet...maybe try reducing the portion of beef? And be careful what you pair it up with? So if you're going to have beef, make sure that there is very little fat in the rest of the meal? Hope this helps...

Hamburger is terribly fatty, unless you look for extra lean. The only fast food hamburger that I can eat is the Wendy's Junior.... all the others are too fatty.

The leanest steak is the sirloin, and I believe the fattiest is the ribeye. Filet Mignon is generally not too fatty, but NY strip is pretty marbled. You can have the butcher at your grocery store grind sirloin, or look for the leanest hamburger (which is usually ground chuck or ground round.)

Also, look for the hidden fat that may be putting you over the top - the sour cream or butter in your potato, the cheese or dressing in the salad. Or the cheesecake for dessert, LOL!

Re: anyone having a problem with eating lean beef?

Yes, I have the same problem you do with beef but for me it is only ground beef.  I buy 93% and I will still get treatment effects.  What I did at first was just totally stay away from beef since this kept happening and then one day I went to a restaurant and decided to have a steak.  I didn't have treatment effects with the steak.  The only thing I can figure is that the ground beef is far more fatty than our bodies can handle.  Try a different cut of beef like sirloin and see if you can have that without the treatment effects.  Freddy's has ground sirloin instead of ground beef so that could make a difference.  To be honest with you though since I KNOW I am going to have a treatment effect with the ground beef I won't take the Alli with that meal but I only try to have beef once a week or less so that I won't suffer.  I guess everyone's body is different and that is just something our body won't allow us to have with the Alli.  Keep going though and don't give up!  So far I have lost 30 pounds on Alli since July.  The benefits far outweigh that one little problem.

You can also buy ground turkey or chicken at the grocery store and it tastes the same to me.
