Green and black treatment effects !!

I was having orange treatment effects and then all of a sudden - no more orange.  Now I see them in dark green, almost black looking.  What does this mean???  Should I be worried?  Should I stop taking alli?

Has anyone else experienced this?  I'm getting nervous.  I haven't seen orange in over a week. It's always blackinsh now.

Please respond with some input.  Thanks!

You should see your doctor. Black stools can mean there is blood in the stool which could be a big problem. hopefully its not that, and maybe it is something else you are eating? but better safe then sorry!

Thanks for the advice.  So - I'm guessing that the treatment effects should always be orange then.  I was thinking that maybe because I all of a sudden had some constipation, that maybe it was just "old" stuff.

I have a dr appt next week.  I'll mention it then.

Has anyone else even had this happen to them?

Keep in mind if you are diligent about tracking everything you eat and never going over your meal allowances then you will not even have the orange drops in the water.  You will also be training your mind and body as to what you really should be eating in order to keep the weight off when you reach your goal.

I think that Betty, our dietician, will respond and tell you that the oil comes in different colors, depending on what you ate and several other factors.  I don't know about black, but yellow, orange, very dark brown, and green are all normal.  You'll get used to it, but it's good that you're going to check with your doctor.

Re: Green and black treatment effects !!

    Hi Everyone,
Please do not panic and assume that black stool is always a sign of blood. Your stool can be black from iron supplements, black licorice, and pepto bismol. Many people are taking supplements now so the change can be from that. If you do suspect blood then you should see your doctor.

Here are some articles on things that can impact the color of your stools:

    http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/stool-color/AN00772

    http://ibdcrohns.about.com/cs/otherdiseases/a/stoolcolors.htm

There are other posts about the changes in color that you can find by using the search command on the upper right corner.

Let me know if you have any other questions,

    Betty Kovacs, MS, RD
