How do I know if a treatment effect is going to happen?

I just started alli two days ago, and I am in walking fear of a TE. I was wondering if there is any kind of signals you get before the TE kicks in  (ie. sick stomach), or if you feel as though you would before a normal bowel movement.

When you say you started Alli two days ago do you mean that you started the pills or started the whole programs?  I hope you started the program and understand what your targets are for calories and fat grams for each meal.

As long as you are staying within your target fat grams you will have NO treatment effects. HONEST!  I have started my second bottle, lost 24 pounds and have NO treatment effects.

But the only way to know if you are staying within your fat grams and calories per meal is by tracking everything you eat--before you eat it.

Please dont walk in fear of TE's!  LIfe is too short.  Track what you are putting in your mouth and know that you are safe!

    Hi MCore44,

If you've eaten a meal that's high in fat, and later on that day or the next day, your stomach will begin to cramp (what I call the BG's-bubble guts), and it'll feel like you have to go make a bowel movement. Also, if you think you need to pass gas and you know you've recently eaten a high fat meal, I wouldn't suggest it unless you're over a toilet. But the ultimate goal is not to have the TE's in the first place.

Re: How do I know if a treatment effect is going to happen?

I've been on alli for about two weeks now. I had one treatment effect because I ate a piece of pizza (bad idea!). But even then, it was just like having diahrea. The same kind of feelings in your stomach. Don't live in fear of them :) If you're eating right, you won't get them. Even if you do slip up and have a TE, it's not so bad.

    Good luck on alli!
