Re: ***Users with 50 lbs. to lose to Reach Goal Weight***

     Hi there,

I too would like to loose 80 pounds. I am six feet, and weighed in on June 25 at 244 pounds. My community started a Biggest Loser Competition, in which my employer signed me up. It is where I have to work out at least three times a week, and the winner at the final weigh in (which is Aug. 27th) wins a big purse. So I have worked out at least my three times per week, and I have not seen any signifigant weight loss. I do cardio for 1 hour, each time, and I really feel as though I work it, and I have cut out my usual morning office tacos, I don't eat a bunch of crap much, but still I have only lost about four pounds. SO I thought I would give Alli a try. I have only been on it now for three days, so if you can tell me when you think I will start seeing a big drop, that would be encouriging. !! Any how yesterday I weighed in at 240.00 pounds. I weigh in every time I work out, So I will keep you posted !!!

Re: ***Users with 50 lbs. to lose to Reach Goal Weight***

I have been taking alli for a month already and lost 17lbs with off and on exercise. Like you I am not a morning person. I have three small children (1,2,3) and they wake up in the middle of the night. I wake up just in time to run my husbands business with the kids at home. Talk about STRESS. I just decided to check out the web site and surprisingly enough it is a comfort to know I am not the only one who can't get the exercise in. Either I have to cut out sleep or I have to stay fat. neither option sounds to healthy. What have you decided to do and how sucessful was it?

yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, today is a gift...that's why we call it the present!

Re: ***Users with 50 lbs. to lose to Reach Goal Weight***

Morning Lizzy! It feels great to be back. I brought my whip! LOL I moved my booty over, so, hop on and lets go girl! Lets get a move on so we will be ready for Next Friday. Shoot I cant even check in anyways, dang web. Anyways, I know the weather is yuck and the humidity is a killer (same problem here in LV) but move that booty. Take that walk on that big ole property of yours, if your tootsies are feeling ok. I will hop on that AC for a few minutes and try to do a workout DVD today. I did some weights on Tuesday, so my body is still recovering from that. It had been over like 6 weeks since I even lifted a weight. So I was dead!

I am eating my yogurt and cottage cheese and almonds and water (yuck) right now. SO, I am off to an early start. I am gonna have me some chicken and asparagas for lunch with a salad and avocado...not sure about dinner yet. I am gonna kick it up a notch this week and take out the starchy-bad carbs this week coming up. I think I will do the Fat Flush end of my 40-30-30. The booster for metabolism. Hopefully I can do that for 2 weeks. Then go back to my regular 40-30-30. We will see. I know your 'food' has not been good this week...but come on Lizzy...hold on tight and we are gonna rock! Love ya!

Re: ***Users with 50 lbs. to lose to Reach Goal Weight***

Lisa78003--Wow, that sounds like a really cool motivation. I think that is awesome! Dont freek over only 4 pounds. You are doing good! And actually, the healthy way to lose it is about 1-2 pounds a week. Yes, we sometimes have a big loss one week, but 1-2 is a typical. My biggest suggestion is to make sure you are drinking your water and try doing mostly fruit and veggies for you carb sorce. Take off the breads, pastas, potatos and things like that for now. And see if that helps to kick up the fat burning fires a little.

BUT REMEMBER---come Aug 27th...if you are the winner of the prize...that is great---but if not....keep going, you are still a winner! Dont just give up do this for "You" and you alone! You will feel and look and be so much healthier and happy. It is great that they are having this contest...but you can do it, even after. Just put everything you got into this and then push yourself even harder. So far with just the 4 pounds you have lost...you have allready won the race. Good luck and I would love to help ya in any way. Let us know how it goes.

Oh, one more thing---Dang girl you are tall! Wish I was a little taller myself. Good luck!

Be strong and never give up!!!!

Re: ***Users with 50 lbs. to lose to Reach Goal Weight***

mmplps7783---Wow, you are doing great! I am very proud of you. I definately hear ya on the no time. I too have 3 kids, but older now...15B-12G-10B. And I am a stay at home mom that watches other kids too. So there is always a housefull. And shoot just when I am getting everyone to bed at night...I gotta stay up and do laundry (too hot during the day). SO, I know how ya feel, it sucks some times. And the bad thing is, the lack of sleep is no good either....especially when we need the energy to make it through the day. I usually try to do a little exercise when hubby leaves for work in the morn. I have an AC (air climber) like a step machine thing. I keep it in the garage now, only cause that way when I am checking the laundry or something I will hop on...even for just a 2 minute walk on it. Every little bit helps. Good luck and keep us posted.

kateq---welcome aboard! Well we are close in height but I started at 220 and want to be around 145 or so. Good luck and if you need anything, we are here. Keep us posted and measure yourself too, not just weigh in. Some days a weigh in may not show much but the tape measure may have you feeling better. Drink your water! Take care.

Re: ***Users with 50 lbs. to lose to Reach Goal Weight***

Hello, all - Another new user here starting at 220. Must be the magic weight that gets people to realizse their lives are out of control.  I too am on the tall side - 5ft. 9". The only other weight loss program I've ever lost weight on was Atkins, but I can't live like that. Gained it back after a few months of stopping.  So I'm going to try this, along with some therapy in hopes of gaining some insight into why I can't seem to keep the weight off and ways to support my efforts toward behavior modification. I really doubt a pill alone is going to make me achieve my goals.  I'd appreciate comments around this assumption if you've got experience.

First change today was riding my bike part-way into work. I've been meaning to do this all summer but haven't gotten off my butt to do it. I can save $10/day in parking by simply riding my bike about 1.5 miles across a causway, yet I haven't done it. The sun was shining off Lake Monona and the sailboats -- it was a beautiful ride. Why haven't I been doing this??????  My boss is just going to have to deal with the fact I arrive a little sweaty and not dressed as well as usual.

Hope I have as much success as you all. Aiming for 170lbs right now.

Re: ***Users with 50 lbs. to lose to Reach Goal Weight***

     Dear Galllk:

Welcome to the Alli family.  I think you will do beautifully.  I think many of us relapse because we haven't identified either what makes us eat more/or exercise less or we just don't have enough self-control or self-esteem to recognize it and put it behind us.  I think exercising, eating right and doing counseling will put you in the driver's seat and the sky is the limit for you.

Initially I lost weight quickly on Alli, then I went on vacation and gained half back--then I lost motivation.  Sometimes I call it DAD (Diet-Attention-Disorder).  I now find I am eating correctly but it's too ghastly hot to work out.  I think I'm having a harder time not smoking then not eating.  I think I could use some counseling myself.

There will always be good days and bad days. I believe if you slip in any way, you need to acknowledge the slip and get right back on track again.  No one is perfect and that is okay.

As far as riding the bike--you will get so use to doing it, you probably won't even break a sweat after a little while.

Good luck and again--I know you will do awesome!  Keep us up to date.

Re: ***Users with 50 lbs. to lose to Reach Goal Weight***

     Hello TLC...

I just started Alli today, and have a good 50 lbs to lose as well.  I want it so bad,....  I am going to try to pace myself,

    tlc5853:

Hi Tracy:  Started Alli two weeks ago today and have lost 5 pounds.  This weekend has been pretty tough, and my next weigh in is Tuesday.  Today was extremely hard because we had a dinner after church and Oh Boy, what a spread of food.  I did pretty good, but could have probably done better.  I  am trying to lose 50 pounds, well 45 now, if I didn't put any back on today.  I started at 205 and want to go to 155-160.  I too have a hard time excercising because I work on my feet all day, so when I get home, all I want to do is sit and get off my feet.  I really need to excercise more.  Well happy fat grams and maybe we'll chat soon.

    tlc

and not be over zealous as I have done that before and then gave up on the diet after three days.  I will follow your progress with the hope to be inspired by you and others.

Re: ***Users with 50 lbs. to lose to Reach Goal Weight***

Thanks for the support!! Getting going is always the toughest - and I'm with you on the too hot to exercise. The Midwest sure can get humid. I don't mind 90 degrees when it's arid, but the humidity sure makes it tough.

So far so good today - the test run date before I start taking Alli on the weekend. I am going overboard already -- Only consumed 260 calories and 10 g fat so far this whole day. Then I pig out when I get home. Have to break that habit. It's the nights at home with the kids, pizza and popcorn that get me every time.

I'll have to use that DAD thing when I see my counselor in early Sept. That stinks, too.  I finally got up the nerve, and they can't get me in for a month. Sometimes seems the health care/behavioral health systems aren't really isn't set up the best way to help people like us. Anyhow -- stick with it, sister!

Re: ***Users with 50 lbs. to lose to Reach Goal Weight***

Galllk--Welcome! I understand the whole do a diet and drop weight only to find that and more creeping back on! It sucks! But it is amazing how much support and understanding you get on this thread. It is a real big help. And most of us look at this as a "life style change"...not a diet. I think the word DIET in the dictionary, means---Doomed In Eating Terrific. LOL But just look at thing as this...you want to be healthy and feel good. And in all honesty you cant put a number (weight) on that. Sometimes you have to go with just the way you FEEL! So good luck and keep us posted.
