Re: ***Users with 50 lbs. to lose to Reach Goal Weight***

Hi all! Well my mini goal for yesterday was to exercise and maintain my diet.  Well I did pretty good, but I did have some cheese dip.  My thoughts was if I ate the last of it, I wouldn't be tempted anymore.  Today, I've already exercised and I'm doing great on my food.  Even went to Wendy's and made excellent choices.  Reading these stories on here makes me want to be successful too.  I just feel that I should already be there since in July I will have been on Alli for a year.  I stopped in November and could never get remotivated.  I hope this time is it.

Anyways, I've got a prayer request.  My sister is trying to adopt a foster child.  His name is Colton and they have another court date tomorrow.  His home life is awful and none of us wants him to return.  Your prayers would be appreciated.  Thanks a lot!

Re: ***Users with 50 lbs. to lose to Reach Goal Weight***

How encouraging it is to sign on for the very first time and see that there are others who are in the same boat I am - seeing the need to lose this extra weight.  I joined the Alli Club yesterday after researching the info on the internet for more than a week.  Tomorrow (Monday) I start taking the capsules.  I'm encouraged about losing the weight (65 pounds) because for the first time, I feel absolutely confident I can do it!!  First and foremost I'm concerned about my health - cholesterol, hypertension, and that dreaded "Women's Department - the Plus Sizes".  I want to return to the time when I could shop anywhere I wanted to!  I no longer am comfortable feeling short of breath walking up the stairs. I must admit that I am apprehensive about the "treatment effects".  How was this for you?  I'm excited about my decision to stop talking and start doing.  I'll keep you posted.    MeDee

Re: ***Users with 50 lbs. to lose to Reach Goal Weight***

I learned the hard way after starting, the first few days, I didn't have any treatment effects. So I went to the movies and ate popcorn. Let's just say that that was something I've never done again. Follow the rules try not to eat foods high in fat you will be just fine and whatever you do dont eat popcorn at the movies fat fat fat leads to very bad treatment effercts. You will not be able to make it home.

Re: ***Users with 50 lbs. to lose to Reach Goal Weight***

Nai - thanks for the prayers.  I'm definitely on this starting and stopping train.  This time I feel different, but I've said that before.  I was almost embarrased to post again because I feel like I keep starting and stopping.  I just know that I was successful before and I can be again.  Even when I went off I was still making some healthy choices so it wasn't like I was a total failure and I have kept off 30 lbs. I think though I could be at 150 now and I'm not.

I've had a healthy breakfast and have exercised two days in a role.  I defintely feel the exercise.  I do the Leslie Sansone.  i was doing 3 miles - 45 minutes, now I'm struggling through 1.  I'll get there again.  I woke up last night and was so sore I couldn't hardly walk to the bathroom. The exercise thing helps me.  I think if I eat something fattening them my time I spent exercising was a waist.

Sorry about your treatment effects.  A great allternative you can have at home is the Smart Pop 100 calorie popcorn.  You can use the spray butter which has 0 calories and it sort of compares to movie popcorn.  You will have to try it.

Let's do this one more day.

Re: ***Users with 50 lbs. to lose to Reach Goal Weight***

I think I've done pretty good this week. I still don't have a scale and don't plan to for a while, so I don't know exactly. They are way too discouraging for me. If I get one and see no results on it, even if it's because muscle is building, I might give up. So I'm currently just going by how I feel. I exersiced everyday this week besides one, and I ate my 3 meals except for one day when I just woke up too late. I haven't gone over my fat/cal intake, even when I have to snack at night. I think my sodium might be a problem, and perhaps carbs too, but I'm a little discouraged that I have to keep track of those too. Why isn't there even a place for them in the food journal or mention of them if it's so important? Have you guys lost weight JUST counting the cals/fat? Sigh. I really hate counting things. My bike-butt (soreness) is gone and I haven't hurt at all from the exersice so far in my legs, which is a little odd but welcome. I go for 30 minutes or at least 6 miles, pulled 40/7 one day this week. I did have a little problem this morning around 5 AM when I woke up feeling really bad/disoriented because my bloodsugar had dropped. Fruit wasnt working so I had to eat a bowl of cereal. Felt icky afterwards, but I had to do it. Still managed to at least acurately messure the milk so it wasn't over a regular snack portion. I've resisted all the things my dad has tried to get me to eat this week. Home-made icecream, "real" chips, suggestions of going to Caption D's (fried fish/chicken/hushpuppies..), pizza. He doesn't like it much, but at least I resisted. It's been a mini-rollercoaster of emotions this week, thinking it won't work, or it will take years (I want to lose about 50-60lb), or I wont be anywhere by Christmas/next spring when I desperately want to go visit my other half. Some days I felt really great, though. The first week is the hardest for me and I am glad I've made it this far; any other diet i'd of dropped after 2 days.

Way to go girl! I knew you could do it, just stick and don't quit. No matter what the scale says you are on the right road. Let me confess, I haven't count my cal/ fat either. I just start portioned all my meals and add a big portion of veggies and salad if possible, very important adding the protein you need so watch it, this is what gives you the energy to build your muscle.

Be careful if you are feeling to tired (because of the excersice), probably you are low on protein. Are you taking your multivitamins? if not try to start, this helps.

I'm so happy to hear from you, take care.

Re: ***Users with 50 lbs. to lose to Reach Goal Weight***

Leylanis, you are very encouraging and inspirational. Thank you so much!

I'm taking a vitamin + ginkgo biloba at bedtime (for my foot). I'm having a problem finding a vitmin with vit. K and no iron - because the iron constipates me badly. I have been a little tired, and I'm thinking this is why. I went to walmart and checked nearly 30 bottles and they either have iron+ everything else or no iron and no vit. K. :( Wondering if I might need to just buy them all seperately, but they're so dang expensive.

I want to start writing a meal plan at the start of the week to work out my salt/carbs. Arghh it's so hard to do. I usually don't know what I'm going to eat until I decide in the kitchen. Going back to the store soon to buy all deli-cut meats since the packaged stuff is absolutely ridiculous with the sodium. Unfortunately this is going to be expensive, too. Thank goodness I have no bills to pay or I couldn't do this!

Re: ***Users with 50 lbs. to lose to Reach Goal Weight***

     Hi,

I also just started the pills today.  I have 63 pounds to lose.  I am hoping this will be the answer!  I started walking with some friends three times a week.  I have a hard time eating enough calories and fat though and I have had no treatment effects, yet.  Good Luck!

If you think you can, you can.  If you think you can't, you're right!

Re: ***Users with 50 lbs. to lose to Reach Goal Weight***

Mdmaxey - Good luck! I've learned it is a day to day thing.  I set daily goals of exercise, amount of snacks, etc.  today is my fourth day back on the program (previously lost 30 lbs and kept it off).  I met my exercise goal again today - yeah! I started with over 60 lbs to loose and now must have 29 more to go.  You can do this!

Does anyone have coworkers or sabotage you? I work with this girl.  She said today.  I'd rather be happy and eat what I want.  The thing is she is miserable and complains all the time.  She intentionly eats gravy, biscuits, bacon, and eggs every morning in front of me.  I just don't get it.

    Good luck everyone!

    Hi my alli friends,

I just started alli 6/7/09 and I have 60lbs to lose. Today being my third day I realize how important it is to eat 5-6 small meals. I began to get real cranky and very harsh toward others. As soon as I ate my snack I felt just fine and all my frustrations went away. Note: Do not skip meals, each one is so important!

Hi everyone! I'm new to the whole Alli thing.  I actually just bought my starter pack today! I just gave birth to my second son three months ago and I have more weight to lose now then ever! It seems discouraging to think of how far I have to go, but I have to say that reading your posts is really motivating! I'm excited that there is a place that I will be able to see other people in the same boat as me.  Sometimes it helps just to know that I'm not alone in this! I look forward to reading more of your posts! And I hope that I can be helpful to some of you sometime as well!

Re: ***Users with 50 lbs. to lose to Reach Goal Weight***

Tommye - when i first started I was so overwhelmed with what I was supposed to be eating and doing, etc.  Someone said walking wasn't good enough you had to do weights, you need to eat this and that.  Well if you eat everything everybody tells you - you end up eating more than you need.  Hang in there.  There are some cheaper healthy alternatives, but it does seem like diet food is more expensive.

I had bad knees also - just keep going. The more weight you get off the better it gets on the knees.  Now, mine don't hurt much at all.  You can do this.

Re: ***Users with 50 lbs. to lose to Reach Goal Weight***

     Hello to everyone,

Well I have two weeks that I have started taking the Alli pills, first week did really good and lost 3 lbs. second week not so good I during the day I was doing good, but once I got home I was to tired to cook and my husband would get home hungry so we would get takeout. I ate hamburgers, starbucks, L&L barbecue, Pizza, Chocolate cake with whole milk etc. I feel really bad about myself and angry I need advice what can I do, I really love to eat out. But I am tired of feeling bad with my body, I wanna feel good but this journey is hard I would really appreciate some support. I feel that since I was bad this week I might as well keep doing it, but I have to be strong and keep going with my diet. It's just really hard for me.

    Thanks for listening.

    Betty.
