Re: GIVING UP, WILL STOP ALLI

Lynne - I hope your surgeon can figure out why you're still hurting.  Sounds like you're doing a good job staying on track. Keep up the good work, and those pounds will start melting away. Enjoy your vacation--you deserve it.

All - Not a good weigh in this week.  I gained 3 pounds.  It's my fault.  I did poorly over the weekend. Sometimes I get so frustrated with myself. Once school starts back and I get my routine back, I'm sure I'll do better. My kids are tearing my nerves up this week--arguing w/each other, trash talking, acting like they've lost their minds. I think that's God's way of getting me ready for them to go back to school.  I'm always sad when school starts back, but I can tell they're ready. I thought I had pretty much everything my kids needed for school.  My mom bought a bunch of school supplies for them and was going to come visit this week, bring the supplies, and take the kids shopping for school clothes. She loves doing stuff like that for them (I love it too!) Anyhow, she called this morning and said she can't come...her sister is in critical condition in ICU. It's not looking good, and now is not a good time for my mom to be away.  I totally understand, but now I have to go out and buy all those school supplies she was going to bring.  Never a dull moment around here.  Again, God is keeping me busy so I won't dwell on the kids going back to school.

I hope you guys all have a good week. Drink lots of water.

Re: GIVING UP, WILL STOP ALLI

I also started using Alli in November 2007.  I wanted to originally lose 50 pounds and as of April 2008 -- when I stopped using Alli -- I lost 70 pounds.  I was religious to this product and it's diet and exercise routine.  It isn't just the pill that needs to work it is also you.  I found the pills just kept me "honest" and I decided I wanted to change my life to a better feeling.  I made 3 goals to achieve in the 6 months and right now am finishing my third goal (coaching my son's soccer league).  I dropped quite a bit and used the food journal to target what the problem was when I had one.  The biggest problem for not losing 3 pounds a week at the beginning was the hidden sodium content and diet soda was a big contributor to me not losing as much as I expected.  I also hit a plateau for about 3 weeks (probably 3rd month into the program) and checked on my alli board and discovered that I needed more physical exercise.  I was only going on 30-40 minute routines and needed to up my routine to 60 minutes.  I have been off alli for 2 months, but still following the low fat diet and have successfully lost 85 pounds in all and am running/walking 7 miles a day.   I have never felt better health wise and my self image has improved immensely.  It's all of what you make of it -- I am a food and exercise cheater and alli made the difference because I wanted it to.  Hope this helped you.

Re: GIVING UP, WILL STOP ALLI

Lynne - I'm here. I'm not leaving you! Are you kidding? You started my favorite thread. :-) I haven't been on here much this past week. I also haven't done very well on the program this week.  I'm pretty sure I'm going to skip my weigh-in this week, because another bad one might do me in.  I've been running around like crazy trying to cram as much fun as possible in as well as getting everything together for school. My kids go back on Tuesday. Actually, Tuesday is a half-day for them, and they really start back on Wednesday.  I've had so much on my plate the past few weeks.  I hoping that by next Monday, I'll have somewhat of a routine back. I hope you have lots of fun on your vacation. Take care of your back.

Re: GIVING UP, WILL STOP ALLI

     Hi Lynne!

Busy, busy, busy! Youngest is playing Pop Warner for the first time (I think for the last time as well!). Practices are 5 days a week, 2 hrs a day and a game on Saturday.

Plus, school starts tomorrow (Monday), so I've been getting ready for that as well.

I get to go back to the gym tomorrow (Monday)! I'm really looking forward to it. I haven't worked out in the gym since the beginning of June. I guess I'm going to have to take it slowly again. :-(.

Saturday we were in Raleigh and I got to try WiiFit. I'm definitely going to get it. I had SO much fun doing it.

Hope your back is feeling better.

I didn't weighin yesterday, so I'm looking forward to weighing in for the Labor Day challenge. It's TOM, but I think I'm still going to show a decent loss anyway. Here's hoping anyway!

Have a great week everyone and don't forget -drink, drink, drink and then drink some more water!

Re: GIVING UP, WILL STOP ALLI

So glad to hear from you girls. I was afraid I lost you. I know what you mean about being busy, I totally can comprehend it. I 've been pretty busy myself. The boys are done with summer program so they've been home driving me crazy about darian lake. They started packing tonight and we aren't leaving till wednesday morning!! They are so excited. I didnt' have pt this week and my weigh in wasn't good.

Here's the deal, I get going and do really really good. Weighing, measuring, not going back for seconds. Then, while I'm watching t.v. at night I get hungry so I grab a popsicle, then i grab another one. When that's gone I'm still not satisfied so I look for something else to eat and then that's where my problem is, nighttime munchies. It's killing me and my mom said to me tonight that I'm not consistent when I diet. After I thought about it for a while I realized she was  right. I start off doing really good, I don't lose that week so I go off the diet on the weekend and sabotoge what I did during the week.
So I talked to my doctor today, by the way, we finally got my hbp under control so she gave me welbutuin, it's suppose to help curb the appetite. Anyway, she's going to refer me to a nutritionist for some help and medicare will pay for it. Then I found out that if whatever the nutritionist does for/with me doesn't work I meet all the requirements for weight loss surgery. I didn't get all the details cuz I have to see the nutritionist first so I'm hoping she will be of some help to me and shed some light on what, why, and how to do things the right way. It's nice to know that there are other options out there for me.

I'm having alot of pain in the lower back and I'm getting a bit discouraged, then I eat. It wasn't until my mom said that to me that I sat down and really thought about it. I think going to see a nutritionist is a good thing for me and I'm actually looking forward to it.  I still can't do any physical activtities so maybe I'm eating the wrong foods or something. Hopefully I can get an appt. next week.

We leave wednesday morning and we'll get home friday morning. Not a long vacation but a nice vacation none the less. My 2 sisters are pretty excited to get going to.
We're like little kids, our first vacation together in probably 15 yrs.  !!!!

So it's tom time and with vacation in 2 days, there is no such thing as dieting for me. I will not take alli, I will eat whatever I want, as much as I want and throughly enjoy myself !!!! lol

I'll check in with you girls over the weekend and let you know how it went.

Re: GIVING UP, WILL STOP ALLI

I just want to say that I've been on Alli for a few weeks now. My weight loss is minimal, but I feel so much better. I'm healthier and making better food choices. I have energy and Im working out! Im sticking to this. For the first time EVER I feel good enough about the "results" to stick to it! So what if the weight is coming off slowly. IM HEALTHY! Isn't that part of why we all want to lose weight, to get healthy?

Re: GIVING UP, WILL STOP ALLI

I don't think that was a good reason to delete my post chimicunga or whatever your name is. I did talk about losing weight, maybe because I mentioned another weight lose pill?

Anyway, hello girls, my vacation was good. Didn't watch my diet at all, it was vacation after all. My doctor gave me a medication called wellbuturin, it's suppose to help curb your appetite in addition to taking alli. I think it's working, I don't feel hungry at all, not like before.

Hope you all are doing ok, haven't heard from anyone since like 2-3 weeks.

Re: GIVING UP, WILL STOP ALLI

Lynne - Glad you had a good vacation--you deserved it.  When is your next dr. appt.? Is your back feeling better? Glad the other med is helping w/the appetite thing.  Are your boys back in school? And how about therapy? How's that going? Sorry for all the questions, but I haven't been on here a lot lately--my computer has been acting up. I hope you're doing well.

Deb - Are you ready for the nasty weather this weekend? I'm actually kind of looking forward to a rainy Friday and Saturday (as long as it doesn't get too windy). Sounds like a good excuse to hibernate! I think we're going to have a camp out in the living room and watch movies and eat movie candy (I'm addicted to Hot Tamales!)

Toni - Are you ok? I'm starting to worry about you. I hope you're doing well.  I keep thinking, "I hope she didn't get hurt on her motorcycle again."

All - I've been way off track the past few weeks.  I've done terribly and even skipped a couple of weigh-ins.  I'm back on track now and ready to keep going.  I don't know what my problem was, but I can't make excuses.  Excuses will only put me back in a size 18 (and I can't afford to go out and buy new clothes!) Plus, I better get my butt in gear if I want to keep up with Deb! I hope you all have a great weekend. And remember--water, water, water!

     Good Friday Ladies!

I've got the hatches battened down, batteries in the flashlights and radios, generator is ready to go, gas tank for the grill is full, cupboards are stocked with HEALTHY and LOW FAT snacks and I'm ready to go!

Boys will be home in a few minutes. Craven County schools closed at 1:00pm.

DH will come home when the weather starts getting really bad and then we'll settle in and ride out Hanna.

Jen, please get back on track, you're the one that's been keeping me going! If my mid-week weighin holds up, I lost another 2lbs this week. 130's are just around the corner, I'm getting really excited!!!!

Re: GIVING UP, WILL STOP ALLI

So happy to hear from you girls, I was beginning to think you left " our thread". Congrats to your weight loss, it's wonderful !!!

I go see my back surgeon monday 9-8.  Since coming back from vacation which by the was good my back has been not feeling so good. I have been getting these little twinges of pain. Maybe it was to soon for me to do all that I did but oh well, those are the sacrafices we make for our children.

I think I did ok in the diet department. I didn't gorge like I thought I might. I did lose one pound this week. Although I haven't been taking alli and am at a standstill right now. I 'm feeling pretty frustrated that I can't seem to commit to this. I want to lose weight so bad but I just can't seem to stay with it. I'm still waiting to hear from my primary doctor regarding a nutritionist. I have left 3 messages with them, someone finally called me this morning, I was sleepiing.
When I got up I returned the call and am still waiting.

    Gotta run right now.

Re: GIVING UP, WILL STOP ALLI

     Lynne,

I would never leave you! Just with the start of school and getting the kids back into a routine, it's tough to make time for the threads at the moment.

I hope your visit to the surgeon goes well tomorrow.

Do yourself a favor and faithfully weigh, measure and log your food intake for two weeks. I can promise you, you WILL see a weight loss.

Even after 5 months, I still weigh, measure and log. I've found when I get a little lax about it, I don't see a weight loss.

And of course, drink, drink, drink and then drink some more water!

Re: GIVING UP, WILL STOP ALLI

Deb, Jen, I'm so happy to finally hear from you girls!! I understand though getting ready for school and all. My almost 11 yr. old started 6th grade middle school!!! OMG, I can't believe it. My baby is in middle school. My 9yr. old started 4th grde and my 8 yr old 3rd.

Good news girls, I lost 4lbs. this week, finally that scale is moving. I really think those pills are helping me, I really don't feel hungry.

Deb, I am so not good at the measuring, weighing thing. I usually eyeball it but that's my problem, I eyeball it to my standards, not the program standards. So I will try my hardest to start utilizing these methods so my results will show every week. I 'm seeing the back doctor this morning so I will let you know what he says.

    Have a great day.

Re: GIVING UP, WILL STOP ALLI

     Hi Lynne,

How did the Dr. Appt. go today?

My first baby is in his last year of middle school this year. Off to the high school next year, OMG!

My mid week weighin held up, so I'm down another 2lbs. I decided to re-adjust my goal weight to 125. I figured now was the time since I was almost within 10lbs of my initial long term goal.

I'm EXTREMELY pleased with the Alli plan - it's my hope to stay slim FOREVER. I know I can't go back to my old ways and I'm okay with that. Especially since DH is doing it with me.
