    Sever Hair Loss

I posted on another board, they suggested I try here.

I have been taking Alli for several months. For the past 3 months, I have noticed my hair falling out. This past month, it's falling out uncontrollably. I can pull my fingers through my hair and it come out is mass quanity. I had my doctor do blood work, and everything was normal.  I take Alli mainly when eating out or no more then 2 pills on a usual day. I get plenty of vitamins and take an extra Biotin supplement. I eat properly and get enough calories and protien. I am not stressed. Is there any chance Alli has caused my hair loss and if so, once I stopped taking it, will the hair regrow? I already called the consumers line and they docutmented my case.

Any others experiencing hair loss? Please post your experience.

    Any suggestions from the pharmacist?

    Re: Sever Hair Loss

Hello. alli is not commonly associated with hair loss - I would suggest that if you truly believe it is the alli that you stop and see if it helps. Also, I would suggest seeing a dermatologist who may also examine your scalp and help determine what may be casuing the hair loss. Hormone fluctuations may also be associated with hair loss - I am not sure how extensive the bloodwork was that you had done.

Are you taking a multivitamin? You say you get plenty of vitamins but I want to be sure yo are taking your supplement.

Hope this helps - stopping the alli and/or getting a more thorough medical evaluation is the best advice I can give!

    Best of health!

    Re: Severe Hair Loss

I have recently stopped taking Alli. I didn't want to believe it was the Alli causing my hair loss, but I better atleast rule it out before I am bald!

The vitamins I am taking are made by Rexall and are marketed for Hair, Skin and Nail support. When comparing the bottle with a regular complete vitamin, it had more of the B vitamins and a large amount of Biotin. I take it, as directed, thress times per day. Each time I make sure I hadn't taken an Alli within 2 hours.

As far as the blood work. My doctor ran the gamet of tests. She was able to conclude it was not a vitamin or iron defienticy, thyroid or hormone related. My next step is the dermatologist. I have an appointment in 2 weeks.

I just wanted to reach out to other Alli users and see if there are any other hair loss concerns.

I truly hope it's not the Alli! I really like the product and hope that I can return to using it after ruling it out.

    Re: Severe Hair Loss

The nutritionist should weigh in on this but I had this problem years ago when I started a strenuous diet and exercise program.  My fitness trainer finally figured out I was not getting enough protein.  Since with Alli you are probably dieting and may have stepped up exercise, please check to make sure you are getting enough protein in your diet.  You need protein for hair growth!!  Good luck, I hope it is something this simple.

    Re: Severe Hair Loss

I started taking alli in May 2008 and have lost about 30 pounds but about 3 weeks ago I noticed my hair coming out 20 or 30 strands at a time.  Anytime I brush or comb it there's bunches. How long did it take for you to stop losing hair.
