Is it normal to have alot of gas?

I've been taking alli for about 4 days now. I've been experiencing alot of gas. Is this normal? I'm not sure if it's from the alli or because I've recently started eating fresh fruits and vegetables. I would appreciate any help that you can offer.

Hi, joellen.  Yep, it's normal, and smells horrible, but keep taking the pills.  The gas is harmless (except to those around you!)  I've been on the pills since Sept. and have lost 30 lbs. so far.  That's worth a little gas! Good luck!

LOL..............Thanks catlady911. I wasn't sure if it was normal or not. Glad to know that it's supposed to happen. LOL my hubby isn't too glad, but the long term rewards are worth it.  Keep up the great work!

You're very welcome!  My boyfriend isn't thrilled about the odor either!  Stick with it.  I'm in the same boat you are.  I've got about 100 more lbs. to lose, but I think about it 20 lbs. at a time!  Let me know how you're doing.

Has anyone tried taking Beeno?  I am embarrassed to be in public because I never know when I'll clear out the room out with the smell!  It's especially bad when I'm exercising!  I hate to think its' something I will have to live with while on Alli ! Any solutions out there?

    Joellen,

I have just started the program and have found the same "tormenting effects" you have mentioned.  I have found that Gas-Ex has helped tremendously with this especially in public!!  Good luck!

Re: Is it normal to have alot of gas?

    Hi acres8876,

Beeno works on preventing the gas caused by eating certain foods like beans, lentils, broccoli by inhibiting the enzymes they produce during their digestion.  The gas from alli id different and will not be responsive.  Other gas reducing products may help like gas-X may help.  After a couple of weeks your body should have adjusted to Alli you should be experiencing less gas, if not you may need to lower the fat content slightly as well as keeping a food journal to note exactly what foods are causing the gas.

    Hope this helps.

I started taking Gas-X with each meal along with the Alli.  It really helped with the gas and smell, but I didn't lose any weight this week. Is that a coincidence, or does the Gas-X counteract the Alli?  Ann

I don't have gas, but I detect an odor?  Could fish oil &/or Lipitor be the culprit?  I also had yellow discharge on my sheets?  What is going on - I think I am following the diet, but maybe not.  Will this go away (assuming I follow the diet) - I am on day 5 right now

Hi acrea8876, There is no interaction between alli and gas-x. It is a coincindence that you haven't had any weight loss this week. Hope this helps. Sophia De Monte RPH

Hi mikeps, The fish oil and any of the fatty foods you have eaten can cause the odor. The yellow discharge is a milder sign of a treatment effect, indicating you have eaten a bit too of fat. Following the plan will eliminate these symptoms. Hope this helps. Sophia De Monte RPh
