Re: Fat Content of Food-How much is too little?

    SuzieQ10680:

I am in the same situation.  I am a newcomer taking Alli for 2 1/2 weeks now.  I am supposed to have 19g fat/meal and 1800 calories, but I am closer to 19g fat/day!  Do I need to be consuming more fat grams?

I have been eating Weight Watchers Smart Ones meals for lunch with a fat free pudding cup...usually fruit for breakfast.....and a lean meat, veggie and rice for dinner.  I don't feel hungry at all, but I have noticed that I am not really in the bathroom at all....not necessarily constipated, but not going everyday either.

I have heard horror stories about the "treatment effects" so I am afraid to eat too much fat especially because two of my meals are eaten at work.

Any help and recommendations will be greatly appreciated!  I have lost 8lbs already, but I still have a LONG way to go.

Hi Susie and welcome, Geo driver brings up a good point about fiber.  It has been key for me.  I no longer take any supplements since I have found so many foods high in fiber that I usually get over 35 grams a day.  This is just my opinion, but I think the more you loose the more important it is to hit your fat target.  I started Alli and had trouble reaching my target, didn't worry to much about it but had to get it up when I reached a plateu in order to keep loosing.  Good Luck to you!

Are you logging in your food in the nutrition log?   You can add an item, type it in and select it from a list and it will bring in the data.

I would try light mayo instead of regular. I don't know if I personally would do the 2 tbs of mayo. Try a tsp. of mayo and about a tbsp of mustard. I never tried the mustard instead before last week but it is actually really good. Plus there are no added fat or calories which is a plus. Try it!!

Yes Suzie you need to consume more fat grams..The purpose of this pill to to eliminate the fat..if you dont consume fat it can not be expelled...This gives your metabolism the knowledge that it needs to keep pumping along..I have already lost 15 lbs since May 5th..I am averaging around 2 lbs a week, which is great so if it comes off slowly it will stay off longer ...I try to stay around 15 to 17 grams of fat per meals. Not always posible , but im ok with that ..also try for low calerie, as long as I consume the fat it all balances out, plus i try and I mean try to remember my vitamin at night..That is probabnly the hardest thing for me on Alli..lol..Up your fat grams and you will notice a significant change in weight loss..Happy losing and Good Luck....

Well if it helps any I stopped using Mayo all together, and started using light Miracle whip, the light is not as sweet as the regular, but honestly, who uses two tablespoons of any mayo type of spread  on their sandwishes??  I also changed from regular Ranch dressing to free, its not bad..Its actually kindof tasty to the palette..Try them it may help..

Re: Fat Content of Food-How much is too little?

You do need to get as close as possible to the fat grams without going over the calories.  Hard for me!  I have started buying sugar free instead of fat free and reduced fat instead of fat free.  This sneaks in a little bit of fat while reducing the calories and giving me a better balance.Consistantly going over on calories, even when keeping fat down, is going to result in a slower weight loss. After all, ALLI doesn't work on all calories, just fat calories. So, all that bread and sugar just gets processed normally and ends up being stored as fat on the booty!

I don't know where you live, but Raley's carries it.  Look in the health food section by the vitamins.

Mary SW: 169.0 (6/18/08) CW: 141.0 # 28 down, 6 to go. Yea!  This is starting to sound really do-able! Goal: Size Perfect or 135 whichever comes first!
