    new to this board

    Hello I am Keri.

I am 30 and tired of being overweight. I read the book, and looked over everything. I don't know if I can understand this, I have been following weight watchers for about 2 months now. I have been eating healthy, and now I have to add back in my diet 19 grams of fat each meal. I am so confused.

      I hope I didn't just throw away 45 bucks.

Hi Keri, Do you excersie? I find that is the way to the eating program. I was with weight watchers and I liked it. Maybe stick with that for awhile longer then try the ALLI. We all are different, but we all have to never give up. There is a way for all of us. STAY POSITIVE. Bonnie

    Re: new to this board

Following the Alli program does take some getting used to - I mean ... what program in your past (when you wanted to lose weight) told you to EAT more fat grams ? hahaha  None that I know of .. I mean heck - they advertise on tv eat Special K for 2 meals and that's suppose to be healthy.  GET A GRIP American's ... we're the fattest people around :(

I'm also on the 1800/60 program - it DOES work.  Get as close as you can to not only your calorie count but your fat count .. drink water .. and do some type of exercise. ALSO - take your measurements.  There may be a week you don't lose or only lose 1 or 2 lbs (which is still good) but then you may lose lots of inches .. YEAHHHHH that's good also :)

    Welcome to the family

    Re: new to this board

    thanks so much.

I am going to give it time. Just not sure about the whole plan and such....

Seriously, I agree with you on the fat grams and such. Just never had to eat that much fat in a day. Just had blood work done about 2 weeks ago and my cholesterol was 118 and my trigiserides were 85.  My LDL and HDL were excellent.   Just don't want to mess anything up. Ya know...

    thanks

    Re: new to this board

    Hi Keri,

I know that it's hard to imagine that eating more fat can be beneficial to your weight and health. There is research that shows that replacing carbohydrates with mono and polyunsaturated fats can positively impact your blood lipids so it's worth giving this a try. The goal is to eat a balanced diet so you need to watch the percent of calories from each of your nutrients.

Take a look at my post on the beginning of this board about reaching your fat grams for more information about how a balanced diet will impact your weight loss.

Let me know if you have any other questions,

    Betty Kovacs, MS, RD

    Best money I ever spent!

An elementary teacher in Knoxville asked her students who their favorite team was for the big game coming up. Jimmy said- Well.. daddy is a tigers fan.. mama is a tigers fan.. so that makes me a tigers fan The teacher went to him and said- Jimmy.. if your daddy was a moron and your mom was an idiot.. what would that make you? Jimmy replied- A vols fan
