Re: Anyone doing this in secret?

I 'fessed up to my husband tonight.  He likes food as much as I do and could easily lose 30 pds.  I try to cook healthy, as he is a heart patient and has diabetes.  He knows what it is to diet, as he was 100 pds. heavier before I met him.  I have 141 pds. to lose.  He is very supportive, just wants me to be safe and not get sick.  He has never made me feel unlovely for gaining weight.  I know what a jewel he is!  I hope you have a sweet love in your life.

Re: Anyone doing this in secret?

Definitely doing it in secret.  I asked my DH if he wanted to go to Costco with me Saturday, secretly hoping he'd say no, and he said yes.  *sigh*  I was going to buy Alli but I didn't want him to know.  So I made an excuse after we got home about needing to go to Target to get some baby aspirin for him because they didn't have it at Costco.  Asked if he wanted to go there with me and he said "no."  Then while I was out I went by Costco too, picked up pictures we had dropped off when we were there earlier, bought the Alli, went to Target and home.

If he knew I was taking it he'd thing it was a waste of time.  He has high cholesterol and I was telling him about Alli and how I had read about someone whose cholesterol was lowered after using Alli.  He said he doesn't intend to have "anal seepage" until it is caused by old age and he can't help it.  LOL  So far I haven't had any anal seepage but if I do and he knows about it, he will immediately suspect that I am taking Alli!

Re: Anyone doing this in secret?

Oh YEAH, diffently doing this in secret! If anyone of my family and friends knew I was using "alli" I would never hear the end of it. Actually, the other day I was at dinner with my BFF and I brought up "alli" as a topic of conversation. All she kept saying was "It makes you have anal seapage and uncontrolable BMs, you better not ever take it Shena". Little did she know I started my pills the following day. As for my husband I'm not telling him for 3 reasons. 1. He will just complain about the cost of the pills. 2. This not my first bottle of diet pills so he would say "I don't want to know anything until I (meaning him) can see the results. and 3. I am not doing it for him, this time I'm doing it for me!

Re: Anyone doing this in secret?

I have a problem with secrets...but I'm an "out-there" person.  I can't hide anything!  I need support - I thought about keeping it quiet, and I'm still unsure.

Here's a question for you who want to keep it quiet...will you be offended if no one says anything? Sometimes people won't say anything, even if it's positive, in fear that you will be offended.  "Wow, did I really look that bad?"  It can be a double-edged sword. Maybe you should share with one good trusted friend who will give you the positive feedback that is motivating, and not criticize you for trying to better yourself. Maybe someone you can take along with you.

Think if there is someone who needs to lose weight who could use your support. It's one thing to grab the lifeboat and jump in and paddle away, it's another to load that boat with as many people as you can, and all paddle away together!

I was one left standing onboard of a sinking ship, so I have a different perspective. Now, I'm offering seats on my lifeboard....hop on with me!

I also have not told my co-workers but my husband and sister in law know. I am 5'5 and am needing to lose 40 lbs. Just cutting the fat intake is a healthy life style change itself. I could eat watermelon all day long . Does anyone know if this hurts the diet. I know it cleans out the kidneys.
