    Anyone over age 60

I have started the plan today.  After a low calorie (less than 1200 cal) and very very low fat  for the last three days I have lost 0.  However, that is nothing new since I can be in the hospital on IV's and no food for a week and gain weight.  Go figure.  I am hoping that with the help of Alli I will be able to loose the weight I have put on in the last 2 years.  I have gone from a size 6 to a generous size 14 and to me I look disgusting.  I mentioned to my son that I look like one of the orange barrels that you see in road construction.  I'm 5 feet tall and every pound is noticable as any short person can relate.  Am looking for a support system as I know this process can get very discouraging.  Lois

Hi lois,I to have gained weight and gone from a size 6 to a 12.I finally got tired of how I look.I'm 66 and feel I still have a lot of life ahead of me. I've been on this program since Sunday and I am down 5lbs. I know it is because of fear and not wanting to have a treatment in public. So I am very careful about everything I put in my mouth.Hang in there we can do this.

    Re: Anyone over age 60

I'm 60 and my pills should arrive today from Amazon.  I've been on Xenacal for the last month (cost $242.00 for 90 pills at Walmart).  Lost a few pounds, but at our age we don't lose weight at a fast rate.  I only weigh myself maximum once a week.  Have been on Atkins since February but switched to low fat mid-May.  Lost 20 lbs so far & need to lose 20 more.  Even if it takes 6 more months to lose that extra 20 - does not bother me because I believe that I'll pretty much stick with a low fat diet for the rest of my life.  It's better for your heart, etc.

    Good Luck

    Kathy

    Hi, Lois,

I'm 60 and 5'4", and at 184 I look like the orange barrel you referred to, maybe with short stubby legs sticking out the bottom! ha

I've been doing Weight Watchers off and on (more off than on) for the last six years...each time I joined I had to lose more weight than the time before! At one time I had lost 30 pounds and only needed 3 more pounds to reach goal, and for some unforseen reason I proceeded to gain it all back plus some. Now I have to lose 48 pounds!! The Weight Watchers plan is excellent and actually sounds a lot like the alli meal plan..they both stress healthful eating and the same nutritional guidelines.

Last Monday I started doing WW on my own at home (I have all the materials and I've got the program memorized!!) plus I started alli at the same time. When I started I weighed 188.6!!! Today I'm at 184.8...we'll see how I do on check-in day this Monday.

I'm proud to find other 60's to share experiences with because as one of you said, we sure don't lose as fast as we used to! Good luck, ladies....we'll be our own support group!

    Re: Anyone over age 60

Hi, I'm 64 and started Alli Wednesday, the 20th. Haven't lost anything yet. I'm hoping before Friday, my check in day, I will have lost a few pounds. It's discouraging not to see at least a couple pounds gone. I've faithfully stuck to the diet. Haven't gone over in calories or fat. In fact, I'm eating a lot less than the plan calls for. Since my husband died 3 years ago, I've lost all motivation to lose the weight. Eating alone and cooking for one is very hard. He was my cheerleader!  I've gained even more weight since his death. I've spent a fortune on diets over the years; sure hope this one works. Good luck to you all. Jean

    Hi, Everybody!

I just completed my first weekly check-in and had to report:

    Weight 6/18: 188.6

    Weight 6/25: 184.4

I'm 5'4", 60 years old, doing Weight Watchers at home in addition to alli.

I'm anxious to read about everybody else's progress....Good Luck!

    Re: Anyone over age 60

     Hi all....

    Jean, I am 68...but  active 68.  I am 5' 5" ...and 183 lbs. I walk 2 miles 5 days each week...have for years.

I started Alli the 15th and followed it religiously....and hope tomorrow I show a loss.  I have lost maybe a half pound and had gained at first.

I am going to cut back the calories a bit. They put me on 1800 calories and 19 fat per meal. It's depressing when I know I am counting right....so will do only 1600 cals.

These board are not good for keeping up with each other...so hard to find posts....that is if they get posted. Lol...

    Re: Anyone over age 60

Grani, I agree; it's very hard keeping up with anyone. When we post we have to scroll through all the pages to find it, or either find another post we've replied to and then we can pull up our name and read all that we've posted on. Very time consuming! I'm hoping to get a lot more active now. I go to Curves and hopefully in the fall when it gets cooler I can start walking also. I've been on the plan almost 6 weeks and have lost 8 pounds; I had already lost 8 pounds in the four months before starting Alli, so I've lost as much in 6 weeks as I did in 4 months without Alli...good luck to you and all us "oldies".
